Got this for the same price a few months ago,had a nasty chemical/metalic taste to the brews even after being used for over a week, not an isolated case looking at the reviews.

Five stars to Argos though they refunded....
A strange design, but boils very quickly and never had a problem with it.

Likewise, bought two weeks ago and still a chemical taste. Will be taking back.
I purchased as well had a weird taste when used
if you get weird taste boil with 2 teaspoons of bicarb soda , then re boil will clean water .. if its still there repeat. (advice from tefal)
I have used different versions of this same model for 7 years now and had no issues with it. I only changes once due to the appearance and not due to the functionality.

I use Brita filtered water to boil and kettle cleaners once a month to clean.

Never had this problem before, had a similar breville kettle for 4 years was fine but started to leak.

bought a tower kettle no problems, inherent design fault in the manufacturer of the kettle.
Storm in a tea-cup....

Had the same problem with metalic taste. The bicarb soda and boil up works.

Storm in a tea-cup....

Tastes like a **** in a tea cup
"efficient" eh? No more or less efficient than any other kettle.
Just returned ours ,we use filtered water and the taste was disgusting even after a few days of use.
AVOID. METALLIC TASTE. AVOID
Picked up the kettle yesterday and have noticed the metallic taste with cups of tea more than coffee.
I have boiled it now around 15 times and threw the water away but it still doesn't taste right.
It will be going back at the earliest convenience

Will be returning it.
