Down from £195.00 on GuitarGuitar, RRP is £245.00. I'm honestly not sure if this is useful for anyone, but this guitar is a fully functional short scale miniature Brian May by Burns and super cute. Perfect electric guitar for kids and doesn't take up a lot of space so it's nice for excursions!

What BMG say:

With an ultra-compact, Brian May Special body shape and neck design, the new, upgraded Mini May now features a significantly extended scale length to improve intonation and playability. The bridge, with 6 individually adjustable saddles, has been moved further towards the back of the guitar, increasing the scale length to 22.7" (576mm).

Features:

  • New, Longer (576mm / 22.7") Scale Length
  • Lightweight, Edge Bound, Double Cutaway, Poplar Body
  • Maple Neck
  • Rosewood Fingerboard
  • Tri-Sonic Style Pickup

Complete with padded Brian May Guitars Gig Bag, The BMG Mini May is a perfect travel companion.

Is this a 3/4 sized guitar? Looking for something suitable for my 9 year old son and I know nothing about these things

A short scale guitar for a guitarist who comes up short; seems very appropriate.

Is playing the guitar a competition? Is being a virtuoso on an instrument but a poor songwriter better or worse than a mediocre guitarist that writes acclaimed music?

Yes it is, scale length is more or less the same as 3/4 guitars, ~22 inches. Seems perfect for your son if he is about to rock

After years of teaching kids that turn up with a full size £100 argos guitar that's pretty much unplayable, I always recommend this guitar for beginners. Looks gorgeous, sounds great and good to play. Also brilliant as a travel guitar or back up for playing live

Yep, I've been playing for 15 years and this just rocks as a travel guitar, and looks awesome to boot.
