Great price for a fully fitted premium quality tyre.

They have a special offer on at the moment, if you buy 2 tyres, you can get a £20 M&S voucher, if you use that voucher then you are effectively getting the tyres for £42.98 each.

I had two tyres fitted a couple of weeks back and they are just as good as Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres they have replaced. They managed well in the snow and I have had no problems in the rain.

The same tyre is £55.44 delivered from Blackcircles (and then you have to get it fitted yourself)

ETB have fitting centres around the South Wales, West of the country and a few in the Midlands, apologies in advance if there are no fitting centres near you, I just hope it helps someone get a decent set of tyres for a good price.

Interesting. I chose exactly these Goodyears because of the rating (B - Fuel, A - wet grip, 69 - noise). The Bridgstones come out at E, C, 71. But I note you say they replace Goodyears. Were those well worn? I still need to on the rear so I am very interested

I was not 100% sure when I first saw the ratings, but the wet grip and road noise is very similar to the Goodyears (the old tyres were worn, but I am comparing to when they were new). I cannot comment on the fuel efficiency but I cannot see it making that much difference.

I have tested the tyres for the last two weeks (including a motorway run) and the tyres have performed very well, I would recommend them.
Wonder how much lying is involved with the ratings, people seem to believe them over anything

Have not researched the validity but below is a good read relating to fuel efficiency difference and a bit in tyres to make sense of the ratings

I can't believe these have such a poor efficiency rating - is this because of the greater grip ?

You mean in the same way the engine emissions testing has been fiddled by the manufacturers? They are a measurement that is, I understand, performed in a standardised condition. It may not be perfect but then what is? (apart from each and every one of us individually).

Absolutely true, the fuel figures don't make that much difference on one car but across a country, it means less imported oil. Just as LED bulbs lowered electricity demand and have meant we didn't have to build new power stations to supply more power.

However I was far more interested in the wet grip rating when buying. I find stopping distance and cornering tend to matter.

Thanks OP for the update. They will replace 7 year old Kumhos so the difference will be noticeable.

Well, no. If you buy two tyres, they will still cost you £52.98 each. Unless you can use the £20 M&S voucher as part payment for them.

I think that's why the poster wrote effectively, not that they are £42.98 each...
Bridgestone tyres are abysmal for wet grip and traction, abysmal below 11C in the dry and middling in warmer dry weather. They do last a long time due to the very hard compound used, which also causes high levels of tyre roar.

Very poor for "premium" tyres.

Had 3 Golfs from new that were shod in Bridgestones - after plentiful tramping and poor grip in the wet and dry, you realise how bad these tyres are when you swap them out for something else and your car is transformed. Dunlop, Pirelli, Goodyear, Continental, Uniroyal or Michelin are massively better.
Great price for a decent tyre. Pity the neares depot is 127 miles away from me. Voted hot though.

my passat eats front tires. had the alignment checked, drive like a normal person and yet new front tires every year.... maybe because i don't buy super expensive ones? but went for Avon ones this time because they were rated A in the wet think it was a naff choice...

Try Pirelli, I found they last longer than average, at least the two pairs of P7 blue I had on the drive wheels of my nearly two tons Merc.
