not played this myself yet but my friend didnt rate it very highly...

good price for new release tho

Reviews haven't been great which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it.

Yeah pretty poor game

Don't look very good game to me

Don't be tempted. Receiving *terrible* scores (2/10) in US publications (UK sites are being more lenient as the developers are matey with a lot of reviewers, plus sites like Eurogamer regularly bump up scores based on advertising spends)

The reviews have been very misguided, and primarily based off the crappy 360 version.

Go watch brandon's live brink stream over at justin.tv and make up your own mind.

Awful game, wait for L.A Noire!

****.

Apparently the US reviewed pre-patch. Eurogamer generally have lower scores for mainstream type games - stating unoriginal etc. - and higher scores for anything which brings something fresh to the table. Brink might not be amazing, but it does bring some new ideas/fusion etc. I'd like to try it at the v. least.

I heard that the PS3 version is much better due to the wonderful multiplayer on it.....:D

Where is this 2/10 review you speak of?
Are you referring to the 2/5 review by joystiq?
That review has already been debunked, as the reviewer played the game for no more than 2 hours.
Even worse; IGN have censored the post by their own member of staff pointing out this lack of journalistic integrity!
The lesson: Don't trust joystiq or IGN.

A fairly comprehensive list of reviews can be found here and here; admittedly the list itself is hosted by Splash damage, so cannot be considered impartial.
However I doubt they bought off 32 independent reviewers.

cold, the game is crap and too complicated, it will be a tenner in a few weeks.

I wouldnt touch this with a barge pole after seeing reviews 6/10 ... very repetative game such a shame it had promise

General feeling is that the game isn't very good - GiantBomb's review of 2/5 stars isn't exactly encouraging (and GB are usually quite reliable). Watching videos of it, it just looks like a poorer version of Team Fortress 2.

Shame, as if it had been reviewed well and looked good I'd have jumped on the PC version for £12!

Absolute rubbish. Eurogamer is one of the very best out there for reviews - never done me wrong. Anyone with any knowledge about the various gaming sites & publications knows they are very well respected and are pretty harsh compared to the likes of OXM.

Having played it for the past 2 days now I can say im really not enjoying it after having high hopes, gameplay is very repetitive due to objective based death match. Keep going back to the Gears 3 beta over this.

Yeah pretty poor game

If you have said that after reading reviews only and not actually playing the game I can't see why you would say that. The changes this game has undertaken will turn FPS games on their head, the SMART system will force new CoD and Battlefield titles to stop being so clunky. After all we get inexplicably caught on a barrel or wall! This title if received well will stop all those infuriating glitches and niggles we hope...

Shame about the reviews, but can't say I'm surprised. I will be waiting for the inevitable price crash and keeping an eye on the improvements they decide to implement.
Just not sure why I would choose to play it over Team Fortress.

Although I wouldn't trust 90% of reviews online, the general feeling amongst forums is that the game has completely bombed, which is a damn shame because it was one of my most anticipated games of the year. Keep those pennies for LA Noire.

As for the deal, hot since its actually a decent price.

Oh my god, most of you have not played this yet and just going by what you hear through negative reviews. The game has a lot of promise but just needs some fixes. Its only been out 2 days in the US and it's not even out here yet!

My advise would be to not turn your back on this game, but if you are not sure then give it a few weeks while they can sort some of the issues out.

I would add though, if you are after a decent SP game then stay away, this is very much a MP game.

Not sure why people still care what a game scores out of ten, that's pretty old school thinking now isn't it?

I just watch some vids on youtube and if looks fun ill try it.

And then selling on ebay usually means you can get most of your money back if you don't like it or after you finish it.

You are shocked that people don't want to pay £30 to risk that a game might actually be good despite the majority of people who have already played it saying it sucks??

another eejit giving us a deal we all know about?

the code is valid on all things, we get it.

as for the game, the lack of any mp on the ps3 version for at least 3 weeks means i expect low sales. this will be very cheap soon, lets face it when early reviews are bad (homefront) its got no chance of survival.

Because i have actually played the game thats why...

I havnt read any reviews, but i see it isnt scoring too well on metacritic

One thing I don't listen or follow reviews from magazines. I follow what the gaming community think of the game from a unbiased non "cod hat". If these people say it's crap, then it's crap.

Its Crap!

You can argue about which reviews to follow and which not to, whether they're right or wrong. Fact is, this will massively affect sales and if you want to get this for a bargain, wait a bit because it's likely to plummet.

I played it at a mate's house today, the SP is pretty bad, the AI is just not sharp enough for all those objectives and you usually feel like you're taking the objectives all by yourself. The MP is laggy, the netcode was just not fit for release and it spoils what could be a very good game. Lag deaths are far more annoying when no one running medic revives you and you have to wait the best part of 20 seconds to repawn sometimes.

With LA Noire next week I'm going to hang off on this and wait for the inevitable £17.99 and give them a chance to sort the issues out.

Sounds like you played it on 360?

This will be £19.99 in no time

Pay a couple of quid and rent it form Blockbuster for a day or two.

This is first and foremost a multiplayer game so don't even think about buying it if you want to play against bots.
Gameplay is very similar to RtCW: Enemy Territory and Quake Wars. You'll love this if you liked those.
You'll hate it if you didn't

All mine have been sealed.

Not worth buying, terrible reviews, and it looked terrible from the trailers/gameplay vids anyway. Just a wannabe Team Fortress 2 with a bad story tacked on.

This game is awful, I got my copy today and already I want to send it back.
The customization is great, that's about the only good thing. Campaign, challenges and online are all exactly the same thing over and over again, it gets boring very quick and repetitive. Wish I never bought it now.

This is the first game to get me playing online team based FPS since Enemy Territory (made by the same people) got it today and it's not bad on an hours play through. Yeah it might get repetitive but aren't things always a bit different online.
