Bought at the same price from Aldi few months back.

Now looking for cheaper alternatives for the Maxtra+ filter, any suggestions please?
Please does anyone know if the "old" Maxtra filters are the same fitment to the Maxtra+ ? I have 12 Maxtra filters left in their boxes

They're different, but some bugs are compatible with both filters. I believe this jug takes both

Yes refill them yourself with 'food grade' activated carbon that can be bought cheaply online or from home brew shops.
I've been refilling the same Maxtra filter for over 4 years now and it costs about 40p to refill.
There are plenty of different methods to do it just look on youtube but I prefer to simply drill a hole in the top and empty the old carbon out and refill it and then bung the hole with a small amount of Stainless steel scourer.

the problem with this jug is there is no hole on top, you have to open the whole cover from top to top it up, bought it and now regret the purchase.
Can anybody confirm this takes the old maxtra filters? I have a load left and my current jug is knackered.
