Are these free delievery
I was given a brita jug but havent bought any filters for it yet. reading reviews seems these filters only last 2 weeks. Thats not economically viable for me. does anybody know alternative cheaper ones that last maybe couple of months? I know there are others but have no clue which are any good and do the same job.

I get 2-3 weeks max in London, tried others brands but no better.

I appreciate it's an obvious answer but the life of the filter basically depends on how much water you put through it and how hard your water is but unless you're willing to have post-filter water samples tested on a regular basis (either by a lab or by yourself - you can buy kit to do this) then it's a case of going by the taste and/or scale build-up, neither of which are very scientific or objective.

Last year I tried to find good objective reviews/comparisons but failed to do so and decided to stick with Brita because I know they reduce lead (Pb) which is important to me.

Brita's website states: "To ensure you enjoy high quality BRITA filtered water, replace the filter cartridge at regular intervals.

The lifetime of a filter cartridge depends on the local water quality. If your mains water contains a carbonate hardness of 10 -12°dH, the filter cartridge should be replaced after 100 litres of water. If the water is harder or consumption is greater, the lifetime of the cartridge reduces accordingly.

The cartridge should be replaced at least every four weeks."

You can get detailed water test results for your postcode area from your mains water supplier. I change mine roughly every 6 weeks but that's only about 60 litres for me and my tap water is "slightly hard."
