Health and beauty experts recommend we drink 2 litres, or about 8 glasses of water a day. Our bodies are around two thirds water so it is hardly surprising that water is so crucial to our overall health and wellbeing.

Although tap water in developed countries is perfectly safe to drink, it may not look or taste as pleasant as we would like. A BRITA water filter tap not only reduces chlorine and impurities, but also the limescale content of your water.

The result: The natural aromas in tea and coffee can develop far better during brewing. Tea has a clear shimmer to it and shows no more ugly scum. Food prepared with filtered water can develop its full flavour. Many professional chefs use filtered water in the preparation of food because the water's reduced lime content impacts positively on the food prepared.

Only the dumber ones. This idea has been de-bunked by proper medical people. Drinking large quantities of water can cause health problems or even kill. See THIS ARTICLE.

An excerpt:

"Even doctors believe the medical myth that people should drink at least eight glasses of water a day, according to an article published last month in the British Medical Journal, which traced the notion back to a 1945 recommendation from the U.S. Nutrition Council."

"Ignored in the original statement was that most of the fluid people need is found in food, especially fruits and vegetables, the researchers said."

So... drink beer instead?

So... drink beer instead?

Excellent Idea, but it will soon be too expensive to buy :((

Hmm, for those that have one - could you let me know how long the filter lasts, how much a replacement is, and are these taps as good as/better than the jugs? Just wondering if it works out easier/better value...

It suggests that it's 500L... which is about 3 months.

has anyone ever had it installed and is currently using it and is it cheaper than the jug?

Yup I'm using it now, technically if you compare it to the price of cartridges for the jug vs the price of cartridges for the tap... the tap works out more expensive (if you use official Brita cartridges)... but it's more convenient... and you can get cartridges from a different company and use them with a conversion kit (which costs around £10).
