Looks like a very good price for that particular seat. However, there's also this ]Britax Duo Isofix car seat for £140 before 4% Quidco. We got one recently and it seems a very good seat for the money. The Isofix makes it much easier to fit and move between cars.

Thanks Deanos. Might be just the ticket for us.

The Dou Plus is no where near as comfy as this seat, i know i went to Kiddicare yesterday to check them out

The padding is at least double, plus it has the safe strap indicators, it is the top of the range of the Britax Isofix seats, the Duo Plus dosent have the support leg either which makes it even safer,, not saying yours is unsfe it comes high in the Which tests , but for the same money its a wiser choice going for the better seat:thumbsup:

Only thing putting me off a bit is that the Duo Plus we have now has very limited recline compared to, say, the Maxi Cosi equivalent.

Original Poster

It says it has 4 reclines so should go back further
, the Duo has 3

I did look at the Maxi Cosi yesterday but again the padding was very poor compared to the Explora Ultra, the Bebe Conford Isofix did look very good but i cant find any crash info on these you also need a top tether in your car

I want one and the baby isn't due for 6 months yet...

Dont forget Advantage card points too

I'll say one thing about this seat and it's not all that positive from our POV. The front to back depth is immense compared to our last one (Britax Duo Plus ISOFIX). In our current car - a Nissan Almera Tino - with this seat fixed in and the front seats as they were, there is zero 'leg drop' room for the tot in the EXPLORA as it touches the back of the front seat. This is a right pain as it looks like the front passenger will now have to contend with poor leg room to accomodate this seat behind them. Our rear seats don't move at all so the front will have to slide forward at least six inches. Anyone thinking of 'putting one of these in the loft for six months' would be wise to check the seat fits at all first.

It's also worth doing a LOT of research to confirm that the seat is *approved* for use in your car. It's one thing for it to fit; it's another thing altogether for it to have been officially tested and approved for use in your car.

That's one of the Duo Plus's plus points - it has been tested and approved for a really wide range of cars, unlike most other makes and models. Also, you can fit a top tether kit to it if your car supports it, so it's attached to 3 points, as opposed to two with a brace leg.

I've seen some of those lists of approved cars and they seem really out of date though and read reports online of people with unlisted vehicles saying that their seat fits fine. It's still a bit of a lottery.

Incidentally, I did check the Britax fit finder online for this EXPLORA seat and it said that a Nissan Almera is approved "where ISOFIX points are fitted". Ours is the Mini-MPV Tino version with ISOFIX anchors and, if i'm not very much mistaken, a tad more legroom front and back. So I thought there'd be no problem. I wonder just how stringent these so-called approval listings really are ?

Just checked in my Vectra C and it fits perfect, and loads of legroom left for them.

I guess as yours is not on the list it isnt approved, which is a shame as its a very good seat

TBH, I think we'll get away with it just that the front passenger might feel a tad squeezed in compared to previously. Won't be able to check again until tomorrow now but I will look at it again.

whats the best price now for this item,?

Boots is still the cheapest at £195 , there may be some codes around to get 10% or extra points knocking around
