Although an hour to drive from Tampa to Orlando, it’s a much better airport for international arrivals. It’s smaller, immigration is a breeze and picking up a hire car is painless too.

The drive is very easy and straight down the I-4.

You might want to change the reference to LHR in the title

I am sorry I accidentally voted cold
Are you sure this is Heathrow and not Gatwick? Think BA only does Miami for LHR.
More like boris airways.. they don't deserve the British name tag...

Why fly to Tampa just to go to Orlando? The Gulf Coast is fantastic.
Just make sure you avoid the dates they are on strike

As the USA’s most visited city, I am simply making the point that Tampa is also a suitable point of entry to reach Orlando.

Those planning their adventure of a lifetime to Orlando may not be aware of its proximity to Tampa. If it’s going to result in a saving, it’s important that they know.
Tampa is definitely Gatwick
Travel trolley are part of southall travel - they don’t do live ticket availability and instant purchase. You buy and wait for an agent to ticket you rather than it being automatic.

As a company, their rubbish and would steer clear.
On the subject of flying into Tampa, I’ve done it once and would definitely do it again - it’s a nicer experience.
When using the bucket( hope for the best) shops I phone them if I need confirmation of ticketing and prices live.
LHR also available at a supplement.

Kindest regards
Oh very tempting price, was looking for tickets to somewhere, might be my choice
I told my friends I was going to Tampa with the kids, and they called the police....

100% agree and the BA flight is usually a little emptier so extra seats galore!
With regard to Tampa Airport, over the last few years it has had a major re-work and is definitely no longer the passenger focused, friendly airport it used to be. In particular, the hire car offices used to be very convenient for passengers. They were located right next to the terminal, just on the other side of the road. For some reason they have been moved yet another train journey away. I can tell you, it's no fun humping your bags to the other end of the airport. Incidentally, the last time I was there, the original offices were standing vacant.
Would travel insurance cover me if I book flight and hotel separately? What happens if my flight gets cancelled?

This happened to us because of Dorian you just gotta be able to book new flights, the company you originally booked with will either offer a full refund or get you on the next available flight but be aware that the next available flight not be that day or the next day. If they are at fault for the cancellation then they will offer food vouchers and hotel vouchers until you can get on the next flight or reasonable travel costs to go home and come back, if they don't you can take them on to get compo.

We just got a full refund and went with BA to Tampa the same time as our cancelled flights, a bit of squeaky bum time but was much better... I'd ignore the comments about the airport not being passenger friendly because a couple monorails nothing
