Use the juices and pour bbq sauce in with all the goodness that the pork has let out during cooking, its usually too runny, dump it into a saucpan and then reduce...

Yummo,Thanks OP.The freezer will get stocked up.As already said, sloooooooooooow roast till the meat falls to bits.Onto a nice chunk of ciabatta with bbq sauce..heaven

im sweating after reading the comments. sounds awsome, we had some last week at £4 a kilo, think its time to invite the family for tea

thanks for posting a bargain in kilos have some heat.

Damnit, no Morrisons round here

Fantastic deal. I always make a dry rub out of fennel seeds, rock salt and black peppercorns. Give them a bash in a pestel and mortar (dont go as far as a powder, jst crack the fennel and pepper up a bit). Slice the fat and rub all over the shoulder. Pop into the oven dry at 160°C and cook for 6 hours. Perfect crackling and meat that falls apart. I also throw potatoes in after 4 hours and then some veg (carrots, onion, celery, garlic) after 5 hours.
From the fat make a gravy using a dessert spoon of flour (mix with the fat to make a paste), a glass of white wine (heat until you burn the alcohol off and then turn down) then add about 500ml of chicken stock and pop on a medium heat until it thickens. the tastiest gravy ever!

Its 10:05am and I'm starving now

Will try there at lunch

I did this the last time Pork was on offer. Slow cooked it.

Throw the meat into a large pan and fry up till each side has a little colour. Quarter or halve some large onions and put enough in to form a platform for the meat to sit on and put the meat on them. Give the joint a good rub down with whatever herbs float your boat.

I then deglazed the frying pan with a 500ml bottle of a very nice cider and throw that in over the meat also I like to then add a few apple halves.

Slow cook away for 6 hours or so.

Yum yum. I then use a 50/50 mix of chicken stock and the stock the meats cooked in to make the gravy

Just went down to my local and bought 4 nice pieces for burgers, goulash, stew. Thanks for posting.

just bought some £5.85 for 3.9 kilo`s

This is cheaper in weight than their sausages. I don't know how they do it, but long may it continue. Scorchio

Fantastic deal, thanks. Just been to get three lots.

OH (who works at Morrisons) has just come home with a piece weighing 4.1kg,it was just over £6.I have just cut it into 4 nice joints.

And of course she gets staff discount off so actually £1.35 kg...;)

For those who like to work in lbs and ounces..£1.50kg = 68p a lb.

bought a 10 joints for my freezer thx

I'm gonna need to look for a deal involving a cheap freezer I think

nationwide deal saw it on tv earlier and bought myself a 4KG one

what's all this? I usually use chick stock or bullion. Is it good with coke? Is there a more detailed recipe kicking around?

Just google coke, coca cola, pulled pork, bbq, dr pepper.

So many variations on same thing. But main thing is don't use diet pop. Has to be full fat coke or whatever.

:O that sounds ridiculously good. i'm going to try dr. pepper slow cooked pork

I like to give my pulled pork the full 11 hour treatment in the Weber BBQ with a good dose of hickory to start, but if your going to do it in a slow cooker/oven I highly recommend a bit of Liquid Smoke , it really gives it that authentic flavour

Why is everone talking about slow roasting this?

Dry with kitcen towel paper. Slash skin with very sharp knife.

Rub in salt.

Pre heat oven to 240C (not before!) . Put meat in, set timer to 25 mins. Then reduce to 180C for 50 mins per kilo. Then increase heat to 220C for 20 mins.

On removal immeditely separate skin (Now crackling i hope!) and place back in oven in dry open dish at 200C

Wrap rest of joint in foil and after 20 mins carve and serve joint with crackling from oven,

I'm gonna try that coke recipe but do you guys remove the skin fatty crackling part before putting in the slow cooker??

Leave it on it can dry out without it. Easier to remove once it's cooked anyway.

I prefer to slow roast it as once I've rubbed it in fennel, sea salt and peppercorns I can basically forget about it for at least 4 hours until i need to pop the potatoes in.
Don't get me wrong your way also sounds tasty but on a sunday when I'm usually wrecked from a full night of DJ'ing (and sampling the bars various lagers), taking 10 mins to prepare it and then letting it look after itself is the best way for me. Plus its guaranteed crackling everytime

Instead of coke the traditional method is to use a mix of vinegar and sugar diluted with water. Vinegar can be malt vinegar to balsamic vinegar, sugar can be from brown sugar to muscovado. The vinegar replaces the acid that's in coke and the sugar replaces the sugar that's in the coke! Then add in whatever flavouring that you have to hand. Remember that coke has a lot of sugar, so for the same result you have to dilute more sugar.. use Yippy search engine to search how much sugar there is in coke. I would say at least 4 table spoon for a joint.

Nice price!

great - going to try the pulled pork ideas, thanks

Wouldn't the oven be too hot for a can of coke? Anyone know what temperature it would take for a can of coke to burst?
