I have had a couple of PMs recently following a post I commented on reference member benefits in British Cycling.

For those that are not aware by using the code NEWCMRA new members (possibly returning members) can get a decent discount on gold or silver memberships or a FREE bronze membership for 12 months.

This will allow you to get a range of discounts and offers via the members dashboard such as 10% off at Halfords / Chain Reaction Cycles. Some discount are subject to minimum spend.

This has been posted previously but will hopefully help those that do not know

edit - as rightly pointed out by lazyfatboy, checks will (can) be made against your club so can invalidate membership if incorrect. In my case they were not but perhaps I was lucky

Checks will be made on your club membership and British Cycling membership status and persons found not to be be current club members or who have been British Cycling members in the past will have their application for membership cancelled.
Which is fair enough- although when I joined the checks were not made (I did not join the club for about another 8 months)

Is the wearing of garish Lycra cycle shorts compulsory once you become a member??
So I have to be in a cycling club in order to take the discount? I'm not in a cycling club and never joined British cycling before however I do want to join British cycling for insurance cover and Halfords discount.
I’d be really careful with this if not with a club. One of the reasons I use it is for the insurance. I highly expect, as with any insurance company, they’ll check every detail before they pay out. I’d say not being part of a club but using the discount code will be top of the list...no insurance pay out for you

Just pay normal price, it’s worth it. Discount at CRC/Wiggle also. The Halfords is discount on anything in shop, even c&c
Just to point out my CRC discount is single use only. HTH.

If you're a cyclist I'd highly recommend signing up regardless of discount/club membership. Got a fair few mates who ended up in sticky situations thinking that insurance would handle legal matters after an accident - they don't. British cycling have a bunch of lawyers available to help members for free.

You should get one code per month, not sure if it's different when you join with this Club discount though

You can’t sod the bikes, the money goes to British Cycling
Asks for your credit card details to start a direct debit at the end
Which membership plan will give me Halfords discount? Starting a new job on Monday and first thing i want is get bike to work plan as it will just 4 miles now.
