British Gas new tariff with £60 Quidco even for existing customers

Just looking at changing my gas & electricity supplier as suggested by Martin Lewis and remembered this post from last year.

hotukdeals.com/dea…ff/

I signed up with British Gas (against my better judgement) last April and was happy to get the £40 quid via Quidco plus another £80 via the above post.

I've just gone through Quidco again and upgraded to Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel and another £60 has already been validated and is due in April.

All being well, that'll be £180 back from British Gas in less than a year and I'll look at switching suppliers sometime in April/May once Quidco comes through.

Hope this helps

any chance anyone knows the difference in tariff between the click 4 and click 5? this will be my 4th time through quidco doing this and hve been paid for each one

The previous jump to click energy 4 my gas went up but electricity came down, overall im on a winner here!

Actually ive looked into it a bit more, the electricity almost doubles and the gas also rises from click 4, maybe worth doing your figures if you use a lot!!!

I'm an existing British gas customer receiving both gas and electric on their "Price Protection 2010" plan. By the end of Step 1 in the ordering process it informed me that I would have to pay upto £75 to cancel out of that plan depending on how long I had been on it. It also states that I would save approx 1% on bills with Click 5 over PP2010 so for me at least it's not really worth it. Thanks for the headsup though SIrTumble.

Click 4 was increased on 8 February. From that date new sign-ups go to Click 5.
On my exact usage, the total annual bill would be £20 a year higher on Click 5

I applied to change to British Gas for their click energy tarrif on 6th Feb and they increased their prices on the 8th but chose not to mention it to me
I only found out through an newsletter from uswitch yesterday and promptly cancelled.
No wonder their customer satisfaction ratings are so poor.

I am really regretting my move to British Gas,

When I moved onto the "click 4" tariff in october last year it looked like a good deal,,, then they hadd 15% in feb this year, i think, not good but still quite cheap...

The orginal paper work they send me in october said

gas = 4.344p (tier 1) 2.141 (tier 2)
elec = 10.5p (tier 1) 7.488p (tier 2)

i did not think this was bad and even with an extra 15% still was quite good

But i have just looked at the click 4 tariff that came into effect after the increase and

gas = 6.239 / 2,617
elec = 18.85/7.972

I really really done understand how these increases equate to 15% to go from 10.5p to 18.85p for elec is more like 75%.

so i am not a happy gittish bass customer now!!

I went to Quidco website and found the page about Britsih Gas. There is a link to british gas web page but that is all. Is there any code or any other thing, how to use quidco discount?

Cheers.

As far as I can see, the rates are cheaper on Click 5 so I swapped and await my £60 Quidco - again!

I know there are regional variations and individual usage will vary but I don't see how the rates can be cheaper.
]This report states that the average customer will pay an extra £138 a year on Click Energy 5 When I checked a couple of comparison sites, I would have been £120 worse off

It's a real nightmare trying to compare but follow the links in post #7 above and it seems from there that the click 5 is cheaper than click 4, but I may well be wrong! I also checked my bill and I fail to see how an advertised 18% increase can take the price from 2.23p per kWh to 4.35p per kWh, to me that looks more like a doubling!

Agreed. When you start to read all the charts, it becomes very difficult to work it all out. All the companies seem to have different tiers etc. so it's hard to compare with any accuracy.
S'pose thats where all the comparison sites come in handy.
Their results vary slightly but I find ]Energyhelpline the most accurate out of them all.

thanks for that, seeing as british gas wont let me sign in gone with eon. get clubcard points too

left u some rep

I'm in the SWEB electricity area and based on the kwh units I used this time last year, I've calculated that I would have saved £10 this quarter by being on the new Click Energy 5 tariff instead of the current Click Energy 4 tariff. The CE5 gas tariff is only slightly cheaper than the latest CE4 tariff so I would only have saved a measly £1.40 on Gas but at least it's still cheaper. The upshot is that if I stay with British Gas, with the Quidco cashback, I should switch to Click Energy 5.

Thanks for this , i got £40 validated already and was really easy to do , Only have my gas supply hence the reason i only got £40 , but better then nothing.
British Gas are not the cheepest though so i may seek to try and find cheaper supplier with better cutomer service.

I went to move from them 2 months ago but they rang me up to say please dont switch and offered me £40 of my next bill but when it never happened i rang them up and they said i have to wait a year before i get my £40

Decided to stay with BG so switched to CE5 this evening. The £60 showed up in my Quidco earnings as validated within an hour so cheers for the heads up on this deal SirTumble. :thumbsup:
