Could we get a reason as to why this is almost certainly a local deal?

You evidently thought about it......

OP states.....

40% off original price yellow sticker.

Did that not have your alarm bells ringing? Or are you sticking with the website theory? (_;)

Yes it did but why leave a comment on a lidl thread ? or indeed post a lidl deal ? as you get nothing but wind up merchants

I bought some today at 98 pence with a sell by date in January - The one that will be out of date next week usually have the discount stickers on

Agree - very likely to be short date reduction, so local.

Ours did this last time Aldi refurbished. Usually a local deal.

butter can also be made with water, lol

what the....? yellow sticker....short date and voted hot???? I give up

They also have a Special Butter at about £1.39 with Sea Salt Crystals, presumably to speed up the heart attack. Bought some anyway and looking forward to it..

Good deal by the way.

Just to stop the conjecture; was in Lidl literally about an hour ago (Manchester Wilmslow) and British unsalted butter was the normal price of 98p. Definitely local only.

They import Polish chickens into UK --- and after a month they magically become British chickens. Wonder if Polish butter turns into British butter if they sit it in a warehouse in Doncaster for a few weeks?

No, that would be Yorkshire butter.

I once had a dog named Puppy.

I've never seen a 40% discount sticker in Lidl - policy is 30% discount then bin it! Do you have photo of sticker please?

People are getting weird."Ive never seen a 40% discount sticker".It means doesnt exist or you need an evidence to go to store and check it??
Unfortunately I do not take a picture of every item I see(even discounted) in store but to make you happy I can provide a copy of receipt. If you have any further problem 58p means that butter has been discounted from 98 by 40% ( 98- 4x9.9)~ 58p

Nothing wrong with you posting a local deal mate but to claim it is nationwide with zero evidence is
poor form imo

Banned

Why would I buy this butter? Does it taste nice or a cheap crap?

Its cheap as no salt in it

If it's a yellow sticker it's a shirt life discount.

Not commenting on this deal in particular, but in general Lidl butter is really nice, and an absolute bargain at 98p (was 1.25 for the same butter until a few months ago and I thought that was a good price).

98p in Stafford Lidl, which is still 2p cheaper than anywhere else.

Thanks op ! Just called at lidl/St.Helens and they had salted and unsalted butter for 58p. Big banner outside saying '40% off selected chilled products' so could be other bargains as well - unfortunately I only noticed the banner after I had left the store........

This store has been closed for a refurb' and only re-opened last week. Most of the butter had a Jan/14 sell by date, so if you're passing fill your boots !
