Broadband and UK Weekend calls only £4.99 per month (18 month contract)

I moved my broadband and telephone calls to Sky around 12 months back – no major issues but the poor wireless range of the router and the fact Sky charge for 0845 numbers has caused me to start looking around.

I had a mailer from BT today, offering me (up to 20mb) Broadband and Evening/Weekend Calls for £4.99 per month over an 18 month contract.
Obviously you have your line rental on top of this but I’d left this with BT anyhow.

Whilst BT aren't to everyone's taste, the maths work out well for me on this deal:-

Sky: £20 per month (Broadband £10 / Calls £10 on average)
BT: £4.99 per month all-in.

If you wanted to add Unlimited Anytime plan, this will cost you an additional £4.99. I'm reliably informed the best way of doing this is to add it via BTs website at the end of month 1. That way, you'll get three months free and another £15 to spend on Babycham over the Festive period.

Throw in a better quality router and I think this is a more than reasonable deal, and one I’m happy to sign up for over the next 18 months.

This isn’t online so no quidco ‘action’ available on the deal.
The number to call is 0800 500 231 and ‘Package 499’ is what you need to quote.

I even spoke to someone in the UK, incredibly helpful and unrecognisable from the BT I used to deal with.

Hope this helps one or two others out.

Plusnet all the way for me! You should check them out. This is cold for me

some one did say

"The package499 deal does not exist on the BT website ( i searched ) , it is an agressive move to get people back to BT , as far as i can see and i phoned them and checked all of the costing , you can get up to 20MB broadband speed , with 10GB download monthly limit plus free weekend calls for £4.99 a month ( for 18 months) , also if you pay your line rental a year in advance you can reduce it from 13.49 to 9.49 a month for 12 months. Unless they are lying it looks like a good deal to me."

BT have been shown to be less than truthful on occasion. inphormationdesk.org/

yes about 3kbs' speed mid eve, great bit shaping, squeezing your speed, control your every move and next year are going to charge you for spying on your uploads and downloads and, if your child downloads an illegal file..........

your screwed!!

Yeah, I know this. Why do you think they're not any good now then? Their deal is unbeatable.

Woop, my first freezing cold deal.
Just to say thanks for all the comments - certainly some aspects of the deal that I'd overlooked - am going to put on hold and give it some further thought.

As a separate strand of discussion, any other deals that people would want to put forward on the broadband / calls front?

Cheers all

If you're keen on higher broadband speeds, my local exchange is set to be upgraded to fibre optic cable and I am promised a speed of 29.8 Mbps! You can check yours at bt.com/inf…ity.

We used to be with Plusnet , no probs till we went over the monthly download limit.

10 per month is not enough for us and the extra started to mount up.

Are you on the Plusnet value? I'm surprised you went over the limit if you are...
