Office Outlet has the Samsung M2026 for £34.99

and the Brother HL1212W for £49.99
31668085-ZjZ3c.jpg
(both mono laser printers).

Tried adding them as a Deal earlier, but was told they're an unsuitable merchant. Woops.

FYI: Pictures were taken yesterday afternoon, in the Baird Street, Glasgow store.

This is a great printer for the money. It's also available from Tesco at £39 and Ryman for £39.99. Voted hot.
Yeah i bought this printer from PC World last week its a good piece of kit , Same price at Currys / PC World £39.99 delivered but bear in mind the usb cable is not included , no problem i used my old printers one , It came with a genuine toner that should last 1000 pages of A4 then you can get 2 x compatibles on ebay for £7.99 delivered so its cheap in the long run

Fantastic price for a Laser printer !!! No brainer so great excuse to change over from an inkjet.
I have a different mono laser printer from brother, it's superb value. Heat added.
Are there any other parts of a laser printer one needs to change over time besides the cartridge?
If it is £39 at Tesco why is this a hot deal? I suspect it is a perfectly good printer, but many of these items are very cheap now (I use a wireless Ricoh that cost only £27 delivered).

.do you have the link to Ricoh wireless for £27
ok thanks. i thought there might be other components to maintain.
Just remember that these Brother printers like to tell you the toner has run out when it's still half full, so find out how to reset them, and carry on using them until print quality suffers. You can do this at least twice saving you the cost of another two toners at least each cycle.

Normally its the toner and the imaging drum - always check how much compatables are before buying a printer
with printers either get a Ethernet one - plug into your router, or wireless both ways your home network will see it, wireless or wired ... usb for printers is old old old tech

I think that was someone's special offer about a year ago, but when I get a moment I'll find the email invoice for you.
Just check the prices for the replacement toner on the Ricoh. Bought one from Tesco last year for £18 cost me £26 for the replacement toner.

I just found the invoice: the printer came from an eBay store called:

on 27/7/16 at a cost of £27.95 delivered. The company seems to be a general electronics store, I can't find the printer listed on its site today, but it might be worth dropping it an email to see if it anticipates having the item again.

The Ricoh is an excellent mono printer, and the replacement cartridges are not too expensive (from memory about £15 - not OEM).

I can't guarantee you will find the Ricoh at this price, but my point was that mono laser printers are really inexpensive.

Best wishes,
A

I bought the Brother 1212w from Amazon quite a while back, probably about a year ago. I don't do a lot of printing and when I would go to use my inkjet printer I'd have to waste ink cleaning the heads. I'm still on the original toner and it prints from my tablet, phone, laptop or any computer in the house.

The only negative with mine was that it came with a round two pin european schuko plug attached, requiring a schuko to 3 pin adapter. Find out if yours has a 3 pin plug before you buy.

Good point. Having bought the printer for £27 I found the replacement toner for £19.99 delivered when I needed one, it is a larger size than the original though.
shame it is not wireless, still hot for a laser printer
I have the HL-1110 (non wireless) for 2 years

Replacement toner fits both..
ebay.co.uk/itm…KGd

£5.99 - awesome value

Problems I have fount is drum sometimes needs to be manualy cleaned with tissue and polished, apart from that I have done over 30000 prints on the HL-1110

Just switch continue mode on else will stop printining even when toner is fine.. This needs to be done before it hits max count for the toner cart
printerthinker.com/bro…10/

Press power button seven times to quickly to switch continue mode ON
Press power three times quickly to print settings page to ensure continue mode is ON

Also there is app on the Brother site that switches auto power down to get it to sleep rather than power down after print (the default).. Will work for this also - if anyone wants will look it up, think it was the Remote Printer Console... Needs the JRE installed but you only have to do this once..

This is an excellent printer and is available form argos for £47.99. This has more features

Which makes it 4.8p per page printing cost as the op printer cost 5.7p per page.

Not really. This is for those who don't need the wifi feature and it saves having to pay extra for it.

amazon.co.uk/Bro…512 I'm thinking about getting this one. Seems decent enough. You can get it from argos for the same price too.

Or give this a go amazon.co.uk/gp/…sed

ethernet should be as standard as it connects with your router, and then thus becomes wireless.
Excellent deal.

I know absolutely zilch about laser printers - but there's threads about both of these on HUKD (which I linkyed to when I tried adding a Deal about them/Office Outlet - which got wiped, as mentioned before)

Is this good? What's the difference between inkjet and laser??
Does this work with Win 10 - 64 bit? Windows sets the printer up but when I go to print something I'm told - 'Before you can print something, you must install a printer.' I am getting nowhere.

B&W Laser printing is fast, cheap, reliable and the results are high quality, sharp, precise. They are clean in use and you don't get smudges, smears, ink on your fingers. There's little maintenance required. Heads don't constantly self-clean and don't clog up. Paper jams are less frequent ime. You can bang out 100 pages in a row without breaking into a sweat. They emit an odour a bit like a photocopier. Can get a strong if you're printing a fkton and don't have ventilation. Laser prints onto paper and gets good results even with cheap paper but doesn't print onto CD's etc.

They can seem costly when it comes to replacing the toner. You can either suck that up, the per page cost is cheaper over time. Or you can do some research and make sure the laser accepts unbranded substitutes.

If you're interest is in printing B&W letters and envelopes and that sort of thing I recommend them. They are nice to use, fast, and consistently produce professional results.
Thank you for a great informative response. For someone who only prints the occasional document/photo, which one would you suggest?

You're welcome.

For your needs, I think an inkjet would serve you better!
Thanks again. I've seen a few on here good value

Are there any other parts of a laser printer one needs to change over time …Are there any other parts of a laser printer one needs to change over time besides the cartridge?

Lasers have 2 main parts to change: the toner cartridge and the drum. Brother tend to have them separate so just because the toner is empty doesn't mean you need to change the drum. Ideally the toner lasts around 5000 pages with the drum good for 20000 - 30000 pages as long as you have 'clean' paper (dust and grit free - you drop the new ream of paper on the floor bin it: ream of paper £3, replace a scratched drum £30) so limiting the changes of damaging the drum. Also most toner cartridges can be re-filled - the limiting factor is the size of the waste toner dump - 2 to 3 times. The U refill toner .co.uk site lists the best and easiest printers for refilling: but you have to buy a bottle of toner from them to get the low down how-to do it. On mine there is only a rubber bung to pull out. One word of warning laser toner is a very, very fine dust so refill outdoors with the wind behind you and not indoors over a pale carpet - if you think talcum powder is messy, toner is 10 times worse!!!!

Have a look on the urefilltoner.co.uk site for recommended printers for low cost of use and ease of refilling - oh and not all toner is the same, it is printer-specifc.
