Brother is best my brother. I've seen two or three refilled with no issues after many years.

Hi what do you mean by refilled,do you not just buy a compatible toner if you don't want to buy an original?

You can buy a soldering iron attachment that will put a hole in the toner to allow you to fill them up.

I've not used one but there's plenty of guides to show how it's done.

Oh I see what you mean, thanks
These are all over GP surgeries. i imagine they must be reliable or why else would they have picked them?
Mono laser FTW ... I'm still on my introductory cart .. An inkjet would have clogged up the heads and the cartridge a yar ago

I work for am NHS trust that support GP surgeries and these are our main printers (not just this model) and the print 10,000+ pages a year. They are build to last
Is the cashback claim part easy?
got the colour version of this a couple of weeks back - it's great! Might be worth holding off to see if the 100 quid cashback on the colour version comes back?
My cartridges cost more than this. Great price.

About the same as this deal (it was £74 for me, after £100 cashback which got into my account this morning coincidentally). The cash back claim is through Brother.co.uk website and it takes about 2-3 weeks to be paid. Simple and quick. The model you want to look at is the Brother HL-8260CDW, but mind that the size is much bigger than this one.
This one: 373mm (W) x 388mm (D) x 255mm (H) - 10.7kg
The colour version: 410mm(W) x 486mm(D) x 313mm(H) - Weight 21.8kg

yup, about the same for me - cashback was even paid before the paypal money was taken. Also, great service from printerland - very helpful folk.

Is the cashback claim part easy?

I bought the colour HL-8260CDW with the £100 cashback deal posted previously.

27th Mar - Ordered on printerland
1st Apr - Printer arrived, invoice email received 1st Apr - I registered the printer (need its serial number) on Brother website, entered the cashback promo code + my bank account number, and uploaded the invoice pdf as proof of purchase.
8th Apr - £100 cashback paid into my account

So yeah, pretty easy for me, though there were some comments in the previous HL-8260CDW thread about people having waited 3+ weeks... The customer service of Brother seems to respond to email quite promptly though, so that's another plus from me.

You just simply upload the electronic invoice from Printerland (or whichever approved seller you purchased the printer from).
Easy peasy.

Yes, printer plugged into router and works fine from wifi

Thanks is there anyway without having the Ethernet cable connected as my router is in my front room and the printer is pretty big
I guess a wifi dongle might work, or something like BT whole home wifi discs (I use those to connect a TV to wifi without a cable).
I used a raspberry pi with WiFi and it works fine
Are we sure that this offer ends on 30 April? I just checked Currys website for the other model HLL8260CWD and the £75 cash back offers says it expires on 31 May 2020!!!

Question to @Mucka and everyone else on this thread.

The printer is wired via USB, does that mean you just need a cable that has USB 2.0 at one end to connect to the printer and the other end needs to be whatever port you're using in your computer? E.g. USB C? The cable doesn't need to look like this?

I don't think it matters what usb cable you use for the pc side. But it does have the usb 2.0 on the printer side.
Thanks @Mucka !
