Two cartridge sizes. Standard and High Yield.
Mentioned in the video @ 01:10
(here, I'll save you the effort of scrolling up) take a look at the video which mentions print yields:

High yields cartridges are ~£100 for genuines

You can replace with a standard or high yield cartridge, OR...

...buy a refill kit that this model seems to lend itself well to.

The £5 M&S voucher and the bonus of 2000 nectar points sweeten it up just that little bit more.

Colour lasers are more suitable for business graphics/documents.

Sounds like you need a Dye sublimation printer. Kerching!!

Inkjets - why can't they be bothered to develop a non-drying ink that remains sealed within its cartridge as a gel and extracted/diluted the very second before it hits the page?
Because they wanna make major coinage out of joe public.

Great multimedia post! I'm tempted, even though I have lots of toner for my ancient Dell.

One point about Nectar - terms say "A valid Nectar Business card number must linked to the Viking account prior to the purchase".

No idea how strict they are on 'Business cards only'. Maybe they have different numbers and consumer ones won't be recognised?

I've had the 8250cdn now for 3 years, great robust printer. Refill the toner at urefilltoner - only ever had to replace one toner cartridge (with an oem on eBay). All others are originals just refilled.

No, and yes.
Long term, laser printers are far cheaper to run than inkjets. However, they don't deal well with photopaper, and the DPI is (at least on this printer) only 600. So while you can get pretty decent looking prints for documents, small leaflets etc, you're probably not going to want to be using these for any photo albums. In saying that, I have several photos I've printed out some years ago on standard A4 paper using my epson colour laser printer and they've not lost any of their colour. In a photoframe with glass they look shiny anyway.
If the quality isn't good enough or you want glossy pictures to handle, the savings you'll make from owning a laser printer will afford you the option of using something like the local supermarket's printing service, or one of the larger online services like snapfish (free photos each month if you're with virgin media broadband btw).

It looks like the printer comes with 3000blk\1800col toners. Treat this printer as cheap toner with a free printer. You could always buy a second one to a different address and account for the cashback.

Well worth a try, though officially voucher use invalidates cashback.
Brother cashback is GB and channel isles only, so going by that N.ireland residents do not qualify for cashback.

Set the printer to print in B&W by default. Then occasionally when you need colour then set to print in colour.
I still have the original colour toner since purchase about 2 years ago.

Compatible B&W high capacity toner is £18 on eBay. This is what I use for my Brother 8350CDW.

I rang them and they said you would be OK in NI but the printer must be supplied by a GB seller??
Anyone know how long the cashback takes?

Other threads on HUKD state they've got the cash back within a week of submitting their claim.
70W standby mode, what a beast! HP models use approx a third of that (color laser printers) but their cashback deals not as good.

There's an off switch. Or, use an Alexa enabled plug and just holler out your request to turn it off.
Looks good for the money, especially when you take the full cartridges into account......HOT from me

Really? Sh! t
Bought this last week via Amazon, it's heavy. The box states 25 kg!

Haven't put it through its paces yet, only used 600 dpi setting for son's hwk. Paid a similar price only because I had a £20 voucher through work. Otherwise it was 188. Oddly the printer was already registered (needed to claim cashback and warranty) which leads me to think it could be a returned item! Logged a ticket with Brother before I contact Amazon..

Oh and size

Perhaps on quidco, it does say that but I used TCB and it allows voucher to be used with cashback, states this before you click on link, £7.42 cashback tracking already on £158.40 purchase (£3 cheaper than OP price?) so basically £51 for this printer after cashback with long lasting toner set and 3 year warranty.Bargain.Must remember to turn it off after each printing job though.
That might get a bit tiresome for some in a busy office/home environment and people trying to print via wifi several times a day. Not a big issue for me personally.

Just did a serch on ebay and found replacement colour toners for about £10 and the black one at £11. Hence thats less than £41 for a full set if you didnt like the idea of refilling the empty cartridges. That price looks especially cheap as the cost a few months ago was about £60 for a full non-oem set. This is the seller:-

Tcb doesnt allow voucher codes to be used either unless approved by them it is in the terms and conditions the cashback will track as has mine with quidco but it will be rejected and not paid out

I'm sure you can get compatible toners, with my Dell it was about £150 for a set of toners, but I got a full set from Amazon for about £16 and it runs perfect, with a lazerjet you don't get ink drying up so it's always ready to print
I got this for £80 (after cash back about 2 weeks ago) - it's a massive printer... it's a good 2 to 3 inches higher than our other brother laser printer...
Thanks op. Was after a printer so ordered this one.
How quick and easy is the brother rebate?
Anyone who does a lot of printing and is worried about toner cost , just buy multiple printers, Brother cash back T&Cs say you can claim for upto 10. A full set of genuine regular toners ( that this comes with) cost over £250. You can get a compatable set for as little as £36 off fleabay.
Cash back from Brother was in my bank in 5 working days. Extra warranty takes a few days longer to show on your Brother account.

Good to know, helps if you have the space to store a second but not sure how easy it would be to use the viking code twice.
on Viking website printer is now £147 (ex VAT), £132 with the £15 discount, total £158.40 (inc VAT) so £58.40 with the £100 cashback.
Really tempted, but squeezing all the compatible ink for my crappy inkjet before i commit
Ordered. For just under £60 for a colour laser with wireless what can go wrong
