Brother LS14 sewing machine £55.99 @ Amazon

Basic sewing machine. £69.99 pretty much everywhere. Newer model L14 is even more and seems pretty much identical. Good reviews on Amazon and just dropped in price today. At this price I thought it was probably worth having around for the occasional minor repair job.

My daughter has the same one, I'm sure I paid around £80 a couple of years ago. Good sewing machine and a bargain at this price.
is this normal size or the small ones ?
Normal size
I spent all day looking for where to get this sewing machine for less than £70, I want to give it to a cousin as a gift. I bought one previously for £60....still going good. £55.99 is a bargain for this machine! Ordered! Thank you
Could jeans be taken up with this?

Hemmed jeans, hmmm, natty!

It appears to be a sewing machine that, based on that description, sews.

Unfortunately it isn't an iron to press creases into jeans.

May be worth taking the effort to look into the product and reviews before committing yourself to hemming jeans.

Help us out by posting some pics of your hemmed jeans. Sound massively tool worthy.
just bought:)

I called them, you cannot use 15% voucher for sewing machines. Yes you get 3 years warranty

I saw that, but then 15% off doesn't apply to sewing machines, if you read it properly. so I didn't bother.
Amazon price has gone back to £69.50!

Really soft denim, maybe, but I think the machine would struggle with jeans.

Because no one ever needed to shorten the leg length of trousers/jeans... *ROLLS EYES*

We appear to be in the presence of a genius.

'Creases' in jeans... Starting your own trend there!

Look at the reviews before using the machine, errrr yeah, thanks for the advice...

Do you even English? As for 'Help', it doesn't appear to be something you're capable of providing, so why you've posted I have no idea. Not for comedy value that's sure.

I refer you to my 'English' reply above.
If you've got nothing of value to post, don't bother.

back in stock at £55.99 but would hurry
I see the deal is back on. Mine arrived yesterday, very pleased with it as I've never used a sewing machine before but managed to shorten the leg of two pairs of trousers on my first attempt.

Yes easily, with a heavier duty jeans needle attached, it took this long to learn how.

Dont know why it would struggle. it must be the most common task for any machine.
You should use a small wedge when sewing over the thick seam to keep the foot level and use a 'jeans' heavy duty needle.
This machine managed to hem, patch and take in a pair of Diesel Zatiny jeans which are about as thick as you can get.
Sorry for raking, but its still relevant.
The example image though is a hem on cheap pair I did recently.
35472415.jpgI'm aware I used the wrong thread, not heavy stuff, still learning. :-)

Nice one, thank you for responding Andy. I didn't buy the machine in the end, didn't know if we'd find enough use to warrant the expenditure. We've recently been given an old Singer sewing machine. There was a problem with the foot peddle (the machine would run at full speed as soon as you turned it on). I managed to resolve that myself by purchasing a replacement capacitor and soldering it in, now runs as designed. I've yet to give it a whirl though...

It got me hooked tbh. Once you can thread it and keep it threaded its a blast fixing stuff yourself. ive attached waterproof pants into the inside back of a No rth Face jacket and two super strong nylon straps so i can actually hang up at each like a hammock a true survival item. lmao. I changed a usaf flight jacket from the 60's into a shirt put the arm patch/pen pocket with the little zip pocket thing on the front and people always talk about this shirt when i wear it cos its unique.
I always get carried away as u can see .
I like changing stuff into something cooler.

Ill post a couple of pics, my first creation was a pair of undies but it was sewiing so well i forgot to stop at the leg holes and sewed them up. Fine for a double amputee tho.
Its a steep learning curve and no one to ask.
Not the usual hobby of a bricklayer.😁
