Good quality, fast, multi-function B&W laser printer/scanner/copier/fax (with duplex printing) for £89.79 after Brother rebate (see instructions on LOS's [?] or Brother's website)

- Print speeds of up to 40ppm
- Fast scan speeds of up to 24ipm
- Automatic 2-sided printing
- 9.3cm touchscreen LCD display
- 10Base-T/100Base-TX network interface and USB 2.0 connectivity
- Not too big (my view!)
- Next day delivery

A few things worth mentioning:
- This model doesn't do duplex scanning or have WiFi (the MFC-L5750DW, for £32.34 more, does (and comes with a bigger touch screen to boot)
- There is a more basic model (DCP-L5500DN), without fax, but which only has a £100 rebate, making in dearer in the end
- There are other Brother resellers who can be used with this offer, but I suggest contacting Brother to check that you favourite one is on their list (Amazon.co.uk is not, for instance...)

I recently received my L5750DW, and am happy with what I got (assuming the rebate comes though... but Brother seems quite responsive when called over the phone).

You can get a multi-function brother laser printer from Viking for about £117 (including rebate) it is about half the speed, but it is colour

And the important thing with any printer is the cost of the ink cartridges or toner: are there cheap ones about?

True, but a colour printer is a different beast (lower resolution/print quality, slower for the same price, bigger, low capacity toners, reliability, etc.).

For £40 one can get compatible toners for 8000 pages (genuine toners with this capacity are about £100), which isn't too bad in my book. I did consider the L8650, but went for a more modern B&W printer instead.
