Brother MFC-L8650CDW Colour Laser Multifunction @ £286.37 @ Leo Office Supplies with a further £100 off in December

Brother do great MFD printers. They've really come a long way when competitors in this segment have gone backwards (IMHO!). I've had a few Brother MFD's for a number of years and they are still going strong. Their MFD's are very well built machines.

This is a combination of what appears to be a cracking price from Leo Office Supplies (been on HUKD before) and a further reduction with Brother's December promo deals. The offer is either £100, £200 or extended warranty.

Savings on the printer in the title. It will need signing up to Brother's site where you will need to enter the serial number, model, purchase date, promo code and supplier. They then send a payment back. I've done this in the past and so know it works.

Now the links: -

1. Link to the printer with Leo Office Supplies: -
leoofficesupplies.co.uk/off…tml

2. Link to the Brother promo page: -
brother.co.uk/lat…ons
(It also lists the MFD's under this December promo. Note the offers at the top)

3. Conditions to the Brother promo: -

- To benefit from the offer you must purchase this Brother Printer between December 1st and December 31st 2015.
- After purchasing the items you must claim your offer from Brother using the form in the link (online.brother.co.uk/sig…-in?returnUrl=/register-your-device) within 28 days of purchase.
- You will have to enter a promotion code with Q3C200 (for Cashback) or Q3CW (for Warranty).
- You will be asked to upload a copy of your electronic proof of purchase (which will be emailed you when you ordered)
- Brother will then activate your Warranty (or pay up!)

4. CamelCamelCamel: -

The base price appears to have been lower back in July, but of course this was not during a promo and so remains higher overall. Also, be careful if you pick this up elsewhere as i am unsure whether use of a non-approved supplier will invalidate the promo. I say this because Brother actually have a page of approved suppliers: -

Personally, i would prefer to use standard toner with these devices but if you want to use non-original versions, they can be found on fleabay for £15 each. Standard yield OEM toner goes for between £35 - £55 each with the larger capacity toners closer to the ton.

Check out how to reset the in-box toner cartridges that come with the printer using the 'wheel' trick - thanks to posts 4 & 5 (tan159/dwvl)!

Incidentally, i ended up stumping up for its bigger sibling the MFC-L8850CDW, again from Leo.

With an RRP of £814.80, Leo also knocked down the price to £519.70 but this time qualifying for 200 quid off. This makes it an incredibly affordable deal on what is a very good MFD for a small department.

The MFC-L8650CDW is the successor to the MFC-L8600CDW which missed out a few items like duplex scanning, copying, and faxing. But if you are after a higher duty-cycle machine then the MFC-L8850CDW is perhaps better spec'd. It's also a little lardy so careful where you place it.

Super organised listing + deal = I would give you even more heat if I could!
Why do these have a recommended duty cycle of 500 - 3000 pages/month. Would printing less cause problems?
Love the brother... printer that is. I got mine and managed to reset counter on starter cartridge. Tops
This printer also uses the same print engine as the "recommended for DIY toner refilling" printers at urefilltoner.co.uk/tes…tml

I have the MFC-L8650CDW (bought a year ago). It's physically large, but I thoroughly recommend it.
Yes, a nicely 'argued' posting. I wonder what the print yield is like with starter toner cartridges?

Excellent post fella. Had a look through that site and liking the way they went about their video's. It appears their refills are of good quality too so maybe it's worth a punt. The standard print costs are fairly reasonable anyway but i may actually give this one a go.

Will add this to the main post.

Cheers

I recently purchased the brother DCP 9020 from Leo.

Happy with the machine and the service.

Colour prints arent photo quality but thats a 'feature' of lasers apparently.

FYI, when entering the device serial number when reclaiming the promo, enter the last 9 characters for it to work. Also, you can fax the receipt to 0844 844 9939 instead of posting it.

Seems a good deal.
Took the plunge, received on tuesday and set up yesterday. Pretty big unit. Connected via ethernet and set up google cloud print easily.
Have to remember to claim cash back.

FYI, brother take circa a week to 10 days to process the rebate. Just received mine today.

Merry Christmas HUKD'ers!
Has anyone produced a print off this printer yet? Is the quality acceptable? Found it online for £257 so with £100 cash back results in £157 final cost...seems very reasonable. But is it any good?

About to purchase the model up. Can you get 3rd party toners for it?

Yup, flebay do them but check out the end of the deal text, it contains a link to where you can get compatible ink along with a video of where/how you refill the starter cartridges.

Just hit against the supposed empty warning with the in-pack black toner, so used the kit earlier in the deal text. Excellent service.

The kit came with all the parts, gloves, mask, refill and even screwdrivers. Managed to get 2,700 pages total (the colours are still going strong but it has been heavily text) out of it so will see how far it goes before it truly finishes.
