I have noticed this too, ended up getting a over limit charge because of it too, though I got it back with some complaining.

Really bad change IMHO, one of the best things about Amazon was being able to speculatively order OOS items in the hope they come back in but not so attractive when you can potentially be out the money for months waiting to see if they ever get them back in.

Anyone know why they made this change? Seems they are being rather shady about it for such a big organisation IMHO, no where at all does it mention the change and when I contacted them about it when I got charged because of it they insisted that they hadn't taken any payment and my bank was at fault
Good price for 40g bags. 25g never enough!

They haven’t trained the majority of their staff to be aware of it. I got stung for £800 back around April this year because of it. I’ve made numerous complaints and all promise to sort it, but nothing happens. Just highlights what a real shambles the company is really.

Ignore it. It’s wrong. They will charge your card between the 5th and 7th day.

I reckoned it was worth taking a chance on ordering at that price as they are gluten free.

What are you on about? Pipe down instead of trying to gain internet points attempting to prove people wrong. I can think their customer service is a shambles (and that it is shambolic that internally they haven’t trained staff to be up to date with current policies) and still order from them. It’s not a mutally exclusive stance.

Yep. Great for those willing to fight it. They wouldn’t budge with the cheap cat food I’ve had on order since the beginning of August though (which they haven’t yet fulfilled, but have charged.)

It doesn’t make any difference if it states that on the item you’ve ordered, I’m in a dispute with them right now!
Ordered, thanks OP. Ordered 3 bottles of wine a while back which states is now on it's way. Fingers crossed

As others have said, they will charge you 5 days after ordering. The info on the order confirmation is wrong.
Ordered 2 lots. Worth a punt. Thx.
are these any good? What do they compare to? Thanks

It lies.
Regarding being charged for OOS stuff, I've also found that returns now take an AGE to process, I keep having to chase and chase, even though the Royal Mail or Hermes tracking says they got the item back 2 or 3 weeks ago. Something is up with their system...

I hardly ever return anything, but the last time I did (less than a month ago) I received the refund within a few hours of dropping it off at the post office!

Which is the real issue, not so much they've made the change which is annoying enough. But all info on their website and all emails they send, confirmations cancellations etc, state the wrong info in regards to when your charged.

In saying that, I returned to the Amazon Locker - refund issued the minute the guy picked it up - this Royal Mail one was one of their QR codes that the Post Office did the rest on - says it's been "Delivered by Scottish RDC Delivery" whatever that means?!

Nothings wrong with their system, as they start to pay more tax they need more money. Not hating on the tax thing, it's just an observation, as all large companies bar John Lewis do it...

Yes, I am saying they have started paying (paltry) tax in the UK - facts. No, I am not saying they are desperate for cash. However, my view is that whenever anything comes out of a company's pockets they try to recoup it one way or another. It's corporate life, never based on desperation. The amounts they are collecting from these prepayments must be in the crazy figures, I read £800 earlier. All of us here with our £5.01s - do the maths. It's a very big policy change - I hadn't even realised it had happened. BTW, yep my card was charged £5.01 immediately for the crisps that will be delivered in 1-2 months - never previously.
Just ordered these and the payment went out straight away.
I havent seen these for such a long time that its amazing that I rediscovered them on HUKD
these are great thx
Thanks for posting! Ordered
