A very peaty whisky. Usually sells for about £50.

Lovely stuff, but nowhere near at peaty as an Ardbeg, Lagavulin etc. - but that's not neccesarily a bad thing.

very expensive compared to other single malts on offer

Bruicladdich isn't that special - no age statement, I see

How do you describe peaty? Is it distinct from smokey, or a type of smokey?

Referring to the iodine content and that 'TCP' taste, its different to smokiness, almost medicinal in flavour. its like marmite where people tend to love it or loath it. You can get peaty whiskys with or without smokiness.

Not tried this one so can't comment on taste. Looks like a bottle of bubble bath and that's enough to turn me off it

These guys create some great flavours, the classic laddie is a must for any whiskey fan. This bottle has a big smokey flavour hence the Heavily Peated label.

When selecting a whiskey age and single malt vs blended aren’t always important, taste is what counts. Don’t buy into the snobbery, I’ve tasted some aged single malts that are perfect drain cleaners and some young blends which are smooth and full of flavours.

Your right to not discount any, but what I will also add is that I have had a higher rate of good Whisky from Single Malts than Blends. But never discount it until you have a had a nip is my motto.

Seriously for 'peat monsters' only. Can take a good splash of water.
Cracking price as it is £45 in Waitrose!
Hot from me.
