"BT’s slick handset is packed with all the functionality a busy home needs. Store up to 200 numbers in the phone book, block frustrating spam calls and complement your décor with its elegant build. Married with the 6610’s built-in answering machine and hands-free function, you’ll get a premium package to keep in touch with friends and family."

Phones with the best Call Blocking system built in. At a discounted price (Yes, part of the ongoing John Lewis sale) and delivered free. Offer ends 20/7.
The BT 8610 is the latest up-rated version of the preceding BT 8600 phones (and before that, the BT 8500 series), with in this case smaller footprint and one-hit Call Block button.

Seems a great price. Have just bought the trio set @ £69.99

While refurb units are available a bit cheaper these are the best prices for new units from what I can see.
Curry's may have them at the same price, but don't give you the same excellent 2yr JL warranty & customer service.

I just got the BT3920 single for £11 from my local tesco, was £60.
I got the triple from tesco about 2 weeks ago for £50 , great phones tho and the call blocker is great , I've had no cold calls since
Wonder if the call blocking works on BT ringing you from Bangalore to try and get your custom back
you need caller id service to be active for these to work, I believe.
We have older version - still very good.
Lots of nuisance blocking phones on ebay -probably just because purchasers didn't have caller id.
zzzz

Yeah and you have to pay extra for that..
Apologies for repost, but can someone tell me if this blocks withheld numbers (i.e. anonymous calls) too, and also if you need to pay for any additional services from your phone provider, Virgin Media in my case.
Thanks

It won't block withheld numbers by default, but it will direct them to announce who they are before giving you the opportunity to accept them. Therefore it's best that anyone in your circle of important contacts has Caller ID not withheld. This is what we had to do for our 80+ year old in-laws, so they didn't get the call filtering. You can tweak the settings to do many things when it comes to blocking, but only those numbers you set to block will not make it through by default. For all others the phone will ring once ( so you know someone is calling you), they will have to announce themselves and you can either choose to answer or ignore. if you ignore they will go to answermachine. Most cold calling companies or spam callers just end the call so there has been nothing from them on my answermachine. Obviously if callers are on the "good" list the phone just rings as normal.
I'm not sure with Caller ID on Virgin. I 'think' they charge, but I am on TalkTalk which is free.

In a nutshell my family love these phones. They have not stopped valid callers from contacting us but have stopped ALL spam and cold callers.

Many thanks Meggie_Dude for the prompt response...much appreciated
At the moment we're getting a single ring at 5.30am!! Been happening for about 5 days now, no caller id, assume an oversea automated marketing bot?
Sounds like i'd still get a single ring with this phone and/or i'd need to pay for virgins Anonymous Caller Rejection function then?:/

yes, I believe you still get a single ring, whether it's blocked, being filtered, or just a plain single ring. seems a bit odd you are only getting a single ring from marketing bot. Any that rang me previously went the whole 5 or 6 rings.

BTW the phone has a Do not disturb option with a timer setting, so that would work for the night time calls, yes?
