This deals is aimed at those on a low income to help them stay in touch and get on line.

It also aimed to help those looking for work to search for jobs on line.
I'm posting this with the hope that it will be of use with those people in mind.

BT Basic is a simple, low-cost phone service that is easy to understand and helps you keep in touch, even if money is a bit tight. If you are on a low income, BT Basic lets you make and receive calls – and helps you manage how much you spend.

What do you get with BT Basic + Broadband?

BT Basic + Broadband includes:

broadband with up to 16Mb/s download speed
10GB usage, which typically means you can:
browse the internet for up to 30 hours a month
stream up to ten hours of video a month
download one film (standard definition) and up to ten albums a month.
BT Parental Controls
unlimited wi-fi.

With BT Basic + Broadband, your broadband will cost £14.55 every three months. So, with your BT Basic line rental included, the total cost will be £29.85 for every three month period (that is £9.95 a month).

There is no connection charge for installing broadband, but there will be a postage and packaging charge for the BT Home Hub router that is needed for the broadband to work.

If you go over your broadband usage limit, a charge will apply. We will email you if you are close to going over the limit.

sorry but this is a rip off

there are other bb providers that give you free bb.. so long as you move over to them
Why is this so cold?

Quite a contradiction right there.
If this package was to help low income people get online then they'd impose a fairer use policy. Maybe traffic manage the speeds when a certain threshold?
A paltry 10GB/month and then additional (extortionate) charges once you go over.

Is that even a serious question?

Hi I think you link goes to a great offer, though its not aimed at the same groups at this one and is twice as much.
At this price point its a deal.

Hi there
So broadband for poor people, but it is a rip off.... I pay like many others £10 a month for 80 meg fibre with unlimited GB...

Daft price they are asking
Hi K1LLer Hornet

I think what you are saying makes sense. It would be ideal if that were possible. I don't think there is a deal out these. if there is I'd be happy to make use of it.

For the target group, this is a great deal. From some of the comments, it seems that people simply haven't read what the offer is, and who the offer is for. If YOU only have £9.95/month spare to spend on broadband and phone line then no matter how good the £19.70/month deal is, it is not a good deal for YOU.
hot from me for things like grandparents who dont want much
For a landline and 10 GB of broadband at less than £10 per month I do think it is a good deal.
Does any other provider offer anything like this for the same price?
Have to agree with Magister, £9.95 a month isn't bad for that target group, it gets those that need too online and providing they ain't downloading films etc then 10gb a month isn't a train smash for the money being paid.

I only get a paltry 1gb from O2 on my phone per month and I use their network daily for Internet browsing gone over it twice in 12 months ( towards the end of the month )

Heat from me OP for what it's worth

what is a target group ? Thats just a fancy way of saying its 'cheap' and for those that cant afford higher prices. It can apply to anyone.... not just elderly folk or low usage group.

The BT offer is plain bonkers. Why would anyone go for that when there are others available at c£10 less/month ?

Just because someone is elderly does NOT mean they are daft. They have the ability to contrast and compare deals. A simple website that checks all the deals will tell them whether the BT deal is good enough or not. And they will know that the BT one is just not VFM.

what are you on about ?the link i gave is c£20 ALL in. UNLIMITED … what are you on about ?the link i gave is c£20 ALL in. UNLIMITED Internet and inclusive of line rental.

Hi there, I hear what you are saying but your deal is twice the cost.

This deal is for those who need low usage at low cost. You deal is great but not for that group of customers. Hope that makes sense.

Dam ! stop voting this hot its gone to -98

I think your missing the point a bit to be honest - this deal is £9.95 a month - you say well you can get one for near on £20 and that's unlimited - the point being is its twice as much money and some people don't need that nor can perhaps afford that ( target group ) like me with my paltry 1gb phone allowance.

If you can find a deal that gives the same as this at the same price or less then I'll happily say your right I'm wrong it happens but on the merits of this deal alone it appears to be a good deal

i think people don't understand THIS INCLUDES LINE RENTAL. every man and his dog offers cheap or free broadband but you pay 17.50 lije rental. personally I don't have a landline. but if you wanted a landline then with this you also get internet for a bit of browsing and emailing and maybe skype with your family. not for me as i use netflix but for people who don't have internet like my elderly eighbour who goes to the library this is great.
.... I'm signing off I'm nearing my 10gb limit
CyberDude

a lot more reasons … a lot more reasons :http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/compare/broadband_and_home_phone/

all of these need to add 17 quid line rental!!! this is 10 quid inc line rental!!

10gb is enough for people to look for a job. I don't want my tax money spent by people watching cats on YouTube all day!

No, not for three months. My parents have had the BT Basic phone line for 8 years and it was £4.50 then and has gone up 60pence in that time.
Maybe Uswitch just don't feature Basic

Here's the link so you can read and digest the details

People will auto vote this cold now just because it's ultra cold without reading the deal' it's a shame though because it should be hot!

Think I'll post it as a fresh deal may get away with it being flagged up as a duplicate on a description error - be interesting to see what happens

good idea. can't do at the moment from my phone. might be -200 in the morning...ekkkkk
that's an amazing deal tbh. Some people obviously can't make sense of it. I don't think you can get line rental for that price anywhere else, let alone line rental and broadband. Only prob is it's completely useless to most people with larger bandwidth requirements but that's not really the point.

I'm happy if you do that if it gets more coverage.....
This is a terrible deal as they charge a fortune if you exceed the 10gb or want to upgrade to unlimited. (or don't let you upgrade!)

The other reason it's going deservedly freezing is because deals can be had with most companies for unlimited broadband and even fibre cheaper than this - albeit once you include the cash back.

I signed up to SSE £12 per month broadband and line rental and thats unlimited. After cash back £110 the first year is pretty much free! Right now they have increased to £13.49 and only six months free but there are offers on and off to be had! Some people have recently been paid to take sky with cash back, Bill credits, free broadband , free line rental.

This deal works out worse overall. It is only cheap if you compare it to buying a standard line rental and broadband deal at full price and that's not how the competitive market is working these days. All the companies are subsidising line rental and broadband and hoping you make loads of expensive phone calls to balance things out or upgrade to TV etc.

I'm sure someone on a low income would rather pay a couple of pound more and be worry free about going over their limit or being stuck with no internet for three weeks when it all dries up after a few days of basic use!

Not really like I said I am on one of these deals all about giving people options
saying that just read the T/C's you have to be on benefits/pensioner and not just low income/hard up
to get this
Good deal, voted hot
Deal ended I'll expire it
Would you believe it. The deal come back on so I've reposted as per
