2937614-GXdHL.jpgMy contract with BT is coming up to expiry so I decided to go with PlusNet, they had a 12 months contract for £30 + £15 activation for their 76mbps (and £85 TCB bringing it to £24 ish a month). BT just called me offering £23 a month for a continuation of my current 76mbps for 12 months which was even less than with TCB.
I know PlusNet are meant to be better with customer service but never had an issue with my BT line and from what I can tell, the standard router is better.
Thought this might help others who are upgrading from BT, you may be able to swing the same

Yes, exactly. They called me to find out if I definitely wanted to go ahead and I told them yes. They asked me what the deal was and they told me that they have special offers on. They tried this a week ago (they matched PlusNet's offer of £30 for 12 months) but I told them that the TCB would make it cheaper. So I was expecting them to say the same thing. However, they told me £22.99 for 12 months so no complaints from me. I then had to call PlusNet and then they offered me 12 months for £23.98!
Just renewed my 76mb for 24.99 so this is even better . Everybody I called had different deals.they are hard to get a deal out of.
My deal was 76mb for £24.99 monthly

I think they offered us the same but I was previously on the 76mbps so they simlpy extended my current deal. If you look at the picture I uploaded, it says BT Infinity 1 which is their 52mbps package) but below my speeds are between 53 and 75mbps. The woman on the phone said she was giving me the 80mbps package
Any way of getting this deal as a new customer?

Probably not. Plus net did offer me 76mbps for £24 a month after I told them I was going to cancel their service (having signed up a week before) so you might be able to get that
Thanks, I'm out of contract now and need to do mine... will give this a shot.

Good luck. Just as an FYI, I ordered with PlusNet a week ago so I guess I made BT sweat a little. Maybe you want to switch to PlusNet either way and then if BT call you back and give you something like this then happy days
I’m with plusnet now and they will only offer me the new customer deal when I told them I wanted to leave
My retention was £39 for Unlimited Infinity 2. They also kept repeating to me how much data I was using, the highest amount have ever seen on guy said. What does it matter it is an unlimited plan. Just called them back as I am in my cooling off period to cancel again.
plusnet are owned by BT!

So you have to apply to the other company (PlusNet) to start the ball rolling and during the process BT will call to see if you want to still proceed, and during this time offer you a retention deal. Then you have to cancel the PlusNet application.

Yup, they mentioned that on the phone, several times. Not sure why they mentioned it though, whatever happens, I want to pay the cheapest (on the assumption all other factors are equal)

Precisely. I know it's not exactly straight forward and it may not work for everyone but it worked for me. Figured it was worth posting because I joined BT last year when a deal on HUKD went very hot so imagine quite a few people are nearing the end of their contracts. I saw that Plusnet had a better deal so went for that. Then this happened and so it got even better.
I am very grateful you posted. I hope to save at least £20 a month
Anyone with FTTP get this deal? I tried and they couldn't give me anything lower than £36 for 24 months on Infinity 2
I signed up for Plusnet earlier having come to the end of the same BT contract, I was going to ring up, but when I saw the standard price for my package is less than what i'm paying (no deal, just the bog standard price), I thought that just took the p. I can understand if there was a promotion, but the standard price should surely be the top anyone pays for that package.

Good deal though, have to keep an eye on the price if you don't move at term though.
Good deal there.

BT Retention could not beat my Plusnet or EE quotes so am moving. BT kept saying I couldn't factor in any TCB or Reward card for total price comparisons. What nonsense. Not good enough so byebye BT.

See you again next year (or whenever prices change mid-contract = get out free) as a "new customer" when you offering that same TCB or Reward card you said I shouldn't be factoring in.

Loyalty no longer pays. Managers only care about annual "new user" numbers now.

Did you call them today? I had that conversation last week as soon as I finalised my Plusnet deal. They could match the 12month at £30 but the £85 TCB was out of the question. I told them that to them it doesn't matter, for me it does so I was fully set on moving. They called me earlier today from a 0800 number so keep an eye out, they may call you in a week's time

Good news, was worth posting then
I got this deal today ...
Don't waste time haggling around with BT. Place an.order with another provider and ensure you moving your landline. Once order confirmed that would send a takeover request to BT by when they know if they don't do anything they would lose you for sure ... That's what I did
I take it that you have pay line rental on top of this price?

Any way of getting this deal as a new customer?

Vodafone £25 pm 76mb
Ooohh just in time, my BT contract is up by the end of June so was beginning to look around for other deals (got my eye on now tv although I here they aren't very good in general) I suppose I'll see what plusnet have advertised to get the ball rolling...cheers for the advice guys
Is BT worth paying more than most providers? Is the service good?

Doubt it, otherwise its not cheap.

Im with vodafone 76mb for £24.99 a month-was cheaper than what BT offered me to stay (£40+). However, i find the service, especially in the evening, to be not as stable as what BT was.
I switched from BT, who offered me £22.95, to Plusnet, which was effectively £15.66 a month after TCB.
When to plusnet website can't see any £85 TCB or i miss something

The £85 would be from Topcashback and not Plusnet so it won't appear on the Plusnet website. You need to go to Topcashback.
I called BT, but they were not offering this deal. So decided to go to Virgin Media.
I phoned BT retention department earlier as my contact is due and the best they could do is £24.99. I mentioned this deal and even directed him to this site. He said leave it to him and put me on hold.

He came back saying he couldn't find this offer and neither could his boss. He added in 2 years in retention he had never seen a deal lower than £24.99.

His computer days "no"!

If not, this is a mega bargain.
I was offered nothing when my term came to an end, no effort was made by BT. I moved to Virgin, what a mistake. If they offered me this I would have been loyal as the service was 1st class

I’m on the same for £24/month - I find the Vodafone pretty much the same as the BT service it replaced.

However when I was using the supplied Vodafone router the connection was terrible and constantly dropped out. Replace that and all my problems went away.

I use an old Openreach modem with hacked firmware as my router and my old BT routers as access points so essentially zero cost to do too. Definitely recommended.
Must be getting desperate after putting prices up late last year.
