Not sure whether to bite the bullet on these or not! Definitely looking at a mesh wifi system, but feel like I may want a little bit more 'techy' control.

I use 3 google home WiFi as my mesh system. I have now stopped using my VM Hub, as it’s useless. I would recommend this as it will cover a 6 bed house. I guess for a average 3 bed semi, it’s more than enough. 1.5 bedrooms per disc.

I am using the big brother of these units and they are working flawlessly.

I control my WiFi for kids (switch on/off at different times).

What kind of control are you looking for?

That's really helpful, thank you. Are you using the newer Nest ones, or the original ones? I did have the original for a while but didn't really get the benefit from them as I was in a smaller house. Now I'm in a larger one, it definitely needs the extra coverage!

It's more things like port-forwarding and checking on usage of individual nodes - no kids so don't need the parental controls. I've just read a few negative reviews about the Android app, which would be fairly important to me.
I bought the trio set, last month. Easy to setup, my wireless never drops now, and I get good WiFi in my garage now.
Have the 4 pack in a 3 bed semi, pleased so far a get faster download speed than the original bt router....
I found no real improvement in speeds when i set up 3 of these around the house compared to the bt hub connected to sky q box
+2 mini boxes
The mini does not have as much control in the app. For example you cant set schedules.

I have the mini trio set and they are very good. But yes there more than just the hardware differences.

I am using the original one. I have 3 for my 3 bed house, as we have a lot of internet usage (2 gaming mad teens). I get over 100mb all over house. I actually think this is enough for most. I might consider buying thus and selling my google ones. They like sell for 70 each all day long. I could save £110
I can't see these from the existing App with the big brothers already installed.

Frustrating.

That's fair enough. My previous experience with the Google ones though is that it 'just works' with no issues. Others seem to be a bit hit and miss.

I am biased towards Google products though to be fair.

These are designed to be plug and play and don't take over your router functions like Google/nest WiFi does. Your router still handles DNS and port forwarding these simply handle the WiFi side. Had no issues with mine but i'm using the original big white ones and app works well for me

I've just installed the bigger version (BT Whole Home Wi-Fi) and it is working seamlessly. I upgraded my Virgin SH3 which was providing pants speeds even close to the hub. The BT system has doubled my speeds all over the house.

I got mine from Amazon Warehouse (as-new) fior about £132 instead of the usual £179.
Are these as good as the larger discs ?
I have the BT Whole system (Big Brother of this) with 3 discs. It's been superb. I was pessimistic but as a tech head and with a tech heavy family. Its been worth the outlay

Can you use the wan port on these to connect to a network switch box and then use that to get connect to wired devices? And if anyone has tried successfully what is the speed like to the wired device.
