Just got off the phone with BT about poor signal inside the house and the man on the phone told me about the Signal Assist, it's £20 on the BT Shop but he credited my account £15 effectively making it a tenner if you include next day delivery.

It looks like a rebranded EE Signal Box except you can activate it with a BT SIM. Keep in mind that the EE signal boxes are quite hard to come by and expensive on eBay, even then they might not activate.

If you got rubbish bt WiFi they should give you them for free! Cold for me.

One time I couldn't get my Freeview channels on my virgin V6 box, they gave me a fridge for free.

So... because you have poor Wifi signal in your home they should give you a free BT Mobile signal box for free, a device which has nothing to do with your wifi problem :/

BT have enabled WIFI calling across most phones, no need for this.

Great price, but not needed.

You have to buy the phones from BT if I'm not mistaken.

Yes as I've got a sim only from them and it's blocked from WiFi calling as mobile not bought from them
EE seems to give people these for free if you're on a 24 month contract with them. At least they did to me and several others.

They're not particularly good though to be honest.

Have 4 phones on Family Sim, none of which were bought from BT and all have Wifi Calling working. Two phones are on IOS and two are on android. If Wifi calling not working i suggest calling tech support as it is free and availble
The disadvantage of these boxes seems to be that ANYONE within 15 metres of the box can automatically connect their mobile phones (if they've got BT sims) through your Internet (for which you may be paying if you are on limited data) With mobile wi-fi only your phones can connect

Called tech support thrice and they said that it either works or it doesn't, they can't help with a non BT phone apparently.

All that technology out there, and some areas still cant get phone signal, not talking about broadband. Forcing you to buy more crap! Pathetic. Or clever marketing

I dont think you would get charged a penny for other random BT wifi users using box. Not matter how little data you have.
I have Wi-Fi calling via By, SIM only, SIM free phone. I also have Wi-Fi calling video BT router with an EE company phone. I couldn't get it working properly initially, and was then told to use the 2.4 ghz band. Works perfectly now. You may have to split your dual band Wi-Fi router to identify 2.4ghz.

These aren’t cheap to make, BT are selling them at a loss. Part of its new Digital focus - broadband won’t work ? 4G back up, signal won’t work with Wi-fi calling ? Signal box - which will work over 4G if Line broadband fails - I use a Mifi on another to get calls/texts where signals are poor, calls sometimes break up a little depending on location/base station saturation but having email/text is better than nowt.

I have a EE box I got free on 12m sim.

Incorrect. I think the Wi-fi calling is only available on iPhones though or it was when I renewed last year. I’ve an iPhone and have a sim only deal and I’ve had no issues with enabling and using it. But BT have to contact EE to register you for it.
Some phones WiFi calling will work no matter where you got the phone from, for example iPhones.

However for Android phones in some cases it will only work if it has an BT/EE firmware. It may also work if you have a generic non network specific firmware but not if it has the firmware for a different network.

Unfortunately if it is a firmware issue they won't do anything to help you, but you can install firmware yourself at your own risk.

The box only works over broadband, not over 4G (if you had a 4G signal you wouldn't need the box)
Have a oneplus 5 bought direct from oneplus. Have a sim only from bt and the vo WiFi and vo lte works.

You can check if vo lte is provisioned for you on android by dialing *#*#4636#*#*

Wi-Fi calling is rubbish. It can't differentiate between a signal and a poor signal, the only time it kicks in is when there's no signal.
Will these work with a ee sim then as bt use the ee network. I know a bt sim would be needed to activate but then would a ee phone connect to it? I tried to get one of these from ee and unless you have a business account they don't seem interested.

There's a lot of misinformation posted here. The following post is largely correct, the officially supported phones are iPhone 5s and above and Samsung S9/S9+ and A8(2018). Samsungs have to have been purchased from BT. You don't need BT broadband to use WiFi calling.

It does work over 4G with a 4G sim capable router or usb modem router/mobile router with such ability to plug in the Ethernet, as I said it’s easily done using another network sim that has a signal, these are great whilst away from home not just at home if you go away for a few days/holiday in the U.K.

Nothing worse than being away from home and not contactable, a few payg sims to buy a data bundle, 4G modem and a mobile router £27 - appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/tl-mr3020/tp-link-tlmr3020-router?tduid=41a8f7647181feb91c28ef899455cc22&utm_source=reevoo.com_1428571&utm_medium=tradedoubler

Even a good 3G signal will carry a Femtocell signal box.

Order online, activate box and return unused/cancel BT sim within 14 days £0 my EE box is from my old account with EE and still works with any MVNO and my new EE account/sims.

I would imagine EE will also be able to activate this BT version if you are a EE customer, Plusnet and other MVNOs won’t be able to activate - as I said do a online sim order, activate, return/cancel sim within 14 days £0
