So these are only AX from disk to disk and not AX from disk to device?

That's what I have read, I've set these up today. Really simple and haven't seen better wifi stability in the house.

These got parent control yet? Had the old wines and moved just cos there was no proper parent control (the mesh itself was great)

Yes full control you can pause individually connected devices, group them and set timers.

Dosen't have a dedicated backhaul so won't class this as a mesh. Also no description of it being a mesh on BT site either

I’m using the original bt mesh system and there are parental controls available for each device.

What do you think a mesh network is?
cant you use the ethernet as a dedicated backhaul?
These new units are using AX from disk to disk, a device connecting to a disk cant use AX, does that not make it a dedicated backhaul via AX??
How does this compare to the previous model ( non mini) better speeds ?

But you'd do your IP filtering rules on your router?

Yes. But that's then another system to configure/manage.

I went for the Deco M9 system. Just using the virgin media as modem and this is router and mesh all in one.

With antivirus and parental control with ages and monitoring of sites they've been so can block if needed... Way easier

Fair enough, I did look into Deco but worked out quite expensive and think you had to pay extra for the security features a bit further down the line...

Where abouts have you read that? I've struggled to find detail on it and BT customer services weren't particularly helpful (surprise suprise). I've been holding out for these as they looked promising but no disk to device AX would be a deal breaker.

I looked it to this also and found the below, AX isn't mentioned in the specs either, I'm astonished it isn't supported for a brand new product

Very interesting. That would seem like a horrendous design oversight - I'm sure AX will make a big difference to the back haul, but surely everyone would want to hold out for fully wifi 6 compatible discs rather than buying a non-future proof half-way house?! Maybe they are back haul AX only now will get wider AX support with future firmware?

I had asked BT customer services about them but just got this as a response...
"Here at the BT Shop Customer Services Team, we are unable to offer Technical Advice

Please can you call the Connectivity Helpdesk, as they are fully trained on the phones BT sell.

The contact number is 0808 100 6116"

I'm out of the country for a few weeks so won't be able to chase up, but feel free to use the number to get more clarity of you wish.

Well I know they were delayed in releasing them, perhaps this was the issue, but as it stands absolutely no mention of it and their marketing team would be shouting it from the roof tops

Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi is the only one of the 3 BT models to have a dedicated backhaul. It's a 4 antenna 11ax radio and only used for connection between discs.

I spoke with BT technical today and they confirmed that "Premium" whole home WiFi is only WiFi 6 between nodes at this stage with WiFi 5 (AC) to devices. They aren't sure at this stage whether it could be firmware upgraded in future to be fully WiFi 6 compatible. That doesn't seem that premium to me, so for me it's a no until it is fully WiFi 6 compatible.

I'll probably just get some normal ones until WiFi 6 is widespread.

That would be for the router / firewall to do not the wifi disks / mesh.
