As my BT broadband contract coming to end, I have contacted BT if they can give me a better deal. I have already booked the virgin media vivid 50 plan for £18.16 after £150 bill credit(Through MSE). But I am going to stick with BT as virgin doesn't give me a minimum guaranteed speed and I never has any issues with BT broadband.

Retention deal as below :

Unlimited Infinity 1 fibre broadband upto 58 MBPS
Unlimited weekend calls
Access to BT Wifi hotspots
12 Months Contract

Being BT customer I can make use of their £5 discount on SIM only plans as well.

Interesting. My infinity package expired in Jan and I was considering switching to the VM VIVID 50 option too. I've been put off VM by the sheer volume of people switching in my area so I was considering the Vodafone 76mbps package (£26 pm on 18m tariff). This is tempting though as I could keep my £5 monthly saving on my BT mobile tarif
Might be a daft question but how did you contact them?

Will do🖒 I was all set to bail but with droves of people jumping ship to VM I am thinking it can only improve service for the rest of us!

Good to know. I have no experience with sky before. With this plan BT offers 38mbps minimum guarantee and for me it was always close to 58.
just got off phone, couldn't get this but got Infinity 52Mb, anytime calls, & BT sport app for £37 a month

Shame. In my case virgin has already requested BT to take over....Also I quoted my current offer with Virgin..Not sure if that makes any difference.....

not necessarily the cheapest, but didn't think I'd get better for retention, i was negotiating for Inlaws who use a landline and have BT email (sigh) for new BT deals you can get the basic for ~£22 add £9.50 for anytime calls and £7 (maybe 1/2 price for 6 months) for BT sport app.
Just got off the phone with them and the best they could offer was £31.49 a month. Suppose it depends on who you speak to.

I was previously with BT. Never had a problem with them but sky offered me a better deal. They seem ok so far.
Switched to Vodafone BB AFTER some minor initial issues all good and a bargain for fibre

When I was on infinity 1 I got 73meg too. The OP states 58meg which I don't understand BT don't do 58 meg only 76 or 52. Maybe they are restricting speeds to reduce the price

I have found BT broadband in my area in comparison with other providers to be extremely reliable, I’m also with them for sport. BTs customer service I have found is absolutely appalling although eventually they do sort the problem out and compensate for inconvenience.
After haggling I renewed a few months back on a 18 month contract with infinity 2 for £33.99, including line rental and weekend calls (I don’t use) with free BT sport on sky for 18 morning months and free HD for 12 months.
As I’ve said I’m with BT for the reliability of there broadband and because I like there sport just hate there customer service.

Dont think so
I can't get hold of anyone on their online chat and I am damned if I am going to phone their premium 0800 number. Think its going to be the Vodafone option for me

Got called by virgin today as had given notice to cancel. They did me 100mb broadband and phone line evening and weekend calls for £21 p/m. 12 month contract.
About to change to sky from BT as they wouldn't offer me a good deal except for Infinity 1 and evening a weekend calls for £31pm. Sky giving me up to 76 mpbs and anytime calls for £25pm. Sorry BT but arrivederci due to the cost.

Sky give reasonable discounts over the phone especially to customers who have sky tv and wanting to take broadband.
They offered to pay up to £100 cancellation that my provider may charge to terminate the contract in my case BT. However if I went with sky for there broadband and I cancelled my TV package then I was told I’d loose a big chunk of the broadband discount.....there’s never a perfect offer.
I stuck with BT as I like the sport.
Give sky a call maybe worth your time. If your not happy then put the phone down and try again with someone else from sky. Like most providers it depends who you speak to what discount you’ll get. Good luck!!
I just received a call from BT and they are lowering the price to £22.99...
i managed to get £26 for a 12 month contract. it's interesting to hear what the lies the sales people like to use to keep you in a contract. because I use 1tb per month + of internet they were telling me that other providers even when i'm using the same lines my speeds will be reduced by 40% and how bt has priority over openreach engineers if i have issues
Does BT will count my SO as a new customer if I will leave them and my SO will join them. In the same address? Retention deals suck and all the good stuff is for new customers

I have tried to follow this route twice on suggestion of a bt chat advisor.. both the times i was unable to get a confirmation of the order online and both times it was cancelled a week after the order was initiated online.. i'd recommend putting an order with another provider and then call BT on 08007831401 to give notice. today i did that and got the same deal as OP ie bt infinity 1 upto76mbps for 22.99 - 12 month contract.....
before today i tried to get bt to retain me about 3 times calling them and asking for a reasonable deal, the best i got was upto 52mbps for 25.99/month. its like they knew today i was defo going to leave so no long chats, they just mentioned this deal in passing and i took it...

then i called plus net to cancel the order i had put with them earlier today and i was reminded how efficient courteous and on top of things they are... chalk and cheese compared with bt... got to say cancelled with a bit of regret but bt's offering more speed and no peak time fiddling with the speeds so stayed with them despite mostly shoddy customer service
