Shame BT decided to extend the "free" speaker offer last night, was due to be replaced today with hopefully usual gift card.I was holding out for a BF BT sim deal and gift card but might look at the new vodafone sim only deals now.
£20 for me?

Isn’t that the case with every company ? A service provider with 100% consumer satisfaction rate is just as easy finding Unicorn.
BT PLUS/Halo has exceptional service imo

Agreed. I've dealt with Virgin Media, Sky and BT, and BT are by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. They simply don't care and constantly lie to you and give you false promises. You'll end up talking to several different people, none of whom have any understanding of prior conversations and you'll be told completely different things by each person. Avoid BT like the plague!

I would second that. I have been a customer of both.

BT aren't great by any means when you have issues. Always preferred Sky personally, but I don't think any company is perfect.

Virgin, from my experience have been on a completely different level to every other telecom company. They lie to a ludicrous level. I work in IT. For most companies CS will tell little mistruths, but Virgin just make things up, and lies of a level of "I did the work, but the dog was sick in it".

I avoided Virgin for maybe 4 or 5 years after serious anger over their lies and the constant issues. When I rejoined, thinking that maybe I was unlucky and they might have improved, I got exactly the same. It would be funny, if they weren't dealing with the issue of no broadband or serious dropouts.

They once ended a call with "I can personally promise that this (issue) won't happen again" after they had told me that the issue was caused by rain, which meant in effect I was being promised that rain wouldn't occur again. This kind of exchange sums up Virgin Media.

I would put BT had and shoulders above that.

Service providers are there to make money but that should not mean that they have go out of their way make our lives miserable. I was paying BT an average of £450.00 a month. All I got was grief from them. We should not be naive enough to expect 100% customer satisfaction from any service provider, but in the case of BT, it might have been 10%.

As it happens I have. I might live to regret my words but at this moment in time I can safely say that I would rather deal with Virgin Media than BT.

I'M SORRY, I DIDN'T REALISE THERE WAS A LAW AGAINST COMMENTING ON DEALS FOR EXISTING CUSTOMERS WHILST BEING AN EX CUSTOMER!
Ive just upgraded to the Halo 1 package for an extra £5 a month to take advantage of the double data sim only packakges. The telesales person confirmed that I'd be receiving the Smart Hub 2 which I thought was only available on the Halo 2 package? Has anyone received the smart hub 2 from the Halo 1 package or did the telesales guy make a mistake?

Prob a mistake. You cannot split the networks on the smart hub 2.
The deal is OK, I posted it too, probably works out best for those who want unlimited data for £30 a month.

How does the cashback work if you already have a number with BT you want to keep?

I tried to get a new deal from BT before, but they wouldn't transfer my number with PUK code as I was already a BT customer, so had to go through their internal upgrade procedure which means no cashback as was not referred directly through them. It maybe easier to move away from BT and move back later to get the cashback.

I'm happy with BT though, it seems to have sped up recently too. Because they own EE, BT mobile customers get priority on the network, and BT Halo customers go above them.

I got BT Plus (guess that's called Halo now) cause i'm an ultrafast broadband customer (300mbps) and I definitely didn't pay the extra £5. Smart Hub 2 is not a great router. I believe I had smart hub 1 which could split networks and was quite good except the biweekly need for a restart as it was dropping 5ghz clients.

Switched to Asus again (RT86U) for the ability to have over 10 devices connected without crashing every 2 weeks and the Guest network option which is awesome for my less secure devices (doorbell, cameras etc.) and, obviously, guests.

Also I got the 50+50gb package for £15 and even though I don't need that much it was cheaper than my 10+10. Got that from my account in my.bt.com when you click "change plan" as you get different packages than going to the generic BT website

Voted hot cause this is still a good deal.

£450 a month wow
I have been pondering which way to go for a new sim only contract. My current contract was pretty special at Virgin tbh at 5000 minutes, unlimited texts and 300gb rolling data for £20 a month on a thirty day contract. Following a review of my usage though I found myself paying for data I did not use, BT fibre that didn't offer full speed due to line restrictions, landline rental, BT sport, sky etc etc. I concluded that I liked having BT sports and therefore looked at the cheapest way to achieve this whilst offering me good data options. A call to BT resulted in them offering me unlimited minutes and texts plus 100gb of data for £20 a month (a £10 reduction) which also included BT sports representing a saving of around £22.50 a month, although part of that was for HD. Most importantly for me it does NOT renew my land line contract which expires in February and thus will enable me to cancel this and try out retaining satellite TV via an aerial, whilst using the 100GB of mobile data for my data streaming with the down load speed around 50% faster than that delivered by the landline fibre. Whilst this will not suit some, I am not an online gaming specialist etc and therefore I believe that it balances the optimum price, package and performance whilst providing access to the JBL sound bar deal also.
It's worth calling BT and seeing what offers they have, as you can haggle and may get a better deal than what they advertise.

I already have BT broadband and asked what they can do with mine and my wife's mobile contract. I was offered £35 per month for two sim cards with unlimited texts, unlimited calls, 200GB on each sim card and free BT Sports.

This comes out as £17.50 per month each.
Although I'll never use this much data, but at the price that I was given, this comes out cheaper than anywhere else.

Sounds like the deal that they are offering for Halo customers on Black Friday. For me I did not want to be extending or locked into my BT broadband contract which expires in February, I did not have an existing BT mobile contract and there was not more than one family member contracted. Great deal though as that extra 100gb could really make the difference come an assessment of whether i can run the house on mine or not.
If you are halfway through a broadband contract and you signed up to this what happens when you leave BT in 6 months?

I asked this very question and was informed that the contracts are operated separately, therefore if I decide to cancel my BT broadband it will not invalidate my BT sports on the mobile contract. Of course it may impact come renewal time etc, however, I'll have to wait and see I guess.
