Europe’s very first live sports Ultra HD (4K) channel, BT Sport Ultra HD, and the company’s new BT TV Ultra HD set top box.

The new channel will launch with its first live broadcast being the FA Community Shield match at Wembley on August 2 between Chelsea and Arsenal followed by the first game of the Barclays Premier League season, with Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United taking on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday, August 8.

Other live events will be shown throughout the season, including games from the UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup, Aviva Premiership Rugby and MotoGP.

The stunning picture quality of Ultra HD, with four times the detail of HD, will be the star of BT’s top TV package, Entertainment Ultra HD.

It includes BT’s new 1TB Ultra HD YouView+ set top box, giving 600 SD or 250 HD hours of storage and 47 premium channels including entertainment, documentary and lifestyle channels, with 13 in HD and the BT Sport Pack with all of the UEFA Champions League and Europe’s first Ultra HD channel, all for £15 a month. It also comes with a voucher for up to £500 off an LG 4K UHD TV.

The package will be available to buy online from July 25

Ultra HD events in August

August 2 Arsenal v Chelsea, FA Community Shield

August 8 Manchester United v Tottenham, Barclays Premier League

August 15 Southampton v Everton, Barclays Premier League

August 22 Manchester United v Newcastle, Barclays Premier League

August 29 and 30 British GP, MotoGP

I assume it's at least a 12 month contract @ £15 per month? Perhaps a connection fee too?

Also are there any details on the £500 voucher towards an LG 4k TV? It could be interesting seeing as a few LG 4k TV's around around £600.

I guess more info will surface tomorrow when it goes on sale. As the voucher states 'up to' £500, I would assume that it would be a sliding scale with the top discount of £500 being for the higher priced LG 4K ones?

Also this is only available to BT customers. I just called them to ask a few questions and I currently have line rental in broadband with EE.... this would mean changing everything over to BT.

If they did a 4k movie channel then I'd be up for this. Not into sport so this doesnt interest me.

Yes, you would need to be a BT Infinity customer. Remember, BT Sport has exclusive Champions & Europa League rights for the next 3 Seasons, every game will be 'free' with BT TV. Currently these will not be shown live on Sky.

Its £120 off the cheapest TV making it £680,
My package which was very basic quoted @£52 pm -poor compared to Vermin media @£39 pm

Will cost £44 per household as requires bt man in van visit to set up etc

I got happy reading the first post!! £15 a month for all that sounded great.

Shame I'm not a BT customer.

where does the signal for this uhd channel come from? is it through the internet ?

Yes only to those with fibre optic.

the £15 a month is on top of their Fibre Optic Broadband and line rental charges though, so not really £15 a month?

Also , not available at every exchange, or indeed on every infinity line, regardless of speed.

They claim there is some extra hardware/software upgrade they need to put in at exchange, if it hasn't been done yet you cant get regardless

You need 12mb solid for their normal HD IP services.

So selected areas & selected customers then it's only one channel that can stream UHD & that's BT Sport UHD on top of what you pay for BT phone line & BT Infinity. They really need to push more UHD channels though to convince more folks. Not sure UEFA EURO 2016 will be in UHD? This is not for me right now.

Do you watch the games on your tv, through sky ?

I want to watch champions league matches, I've only got Sky with sky broadband, what would be the cheapest way to watch them on my TV

They got sky sports f1HD and stuff like syfyHD and foxHD?

£500 voucher can only be used on bt shop, for LG tvs only

UHD pictures do look very nice, but I think BT Sport UHD is only the 5th UHD in the world - and the first in the UK. I'm interested as to what Moto GP will look like, as all the material I've seen so far has been stadium based.
Also for the technical minded, it is 4x1080p resolution, not 4x1080i

Just in time for my deteriorating eye sight no need to buy glasses / contact lenses

whoa no sports HD from sky with this and no HD on many channels I currently get. Gonna wait for sky 4k

Annoyingly only available to BT Infinity customers. I can understand why BT do it (to push their other services) but there's no technological reason anyone on VM 100mb or similar, fast enough services shouldn't be able to get this.

Be careful if you try to cancel your contract as they charge you a hell of a lot..

You'll also need at least a 30Mbps connection speed, simply having an infinity service may not be enough. Also consider that if you're watching a UHD channel it'll be using a good chunk of your VDSL bandwidth so other connections may suffer.

Ordered this last week, getting installed friday, not sure where 47 premium channels is coming from, was told on phone it was 34 premium channels, so if it is 47 great.Downgraded to BT infinity 1 unlimited at same time as no speed increase with infinity 2.I have 90 days to report any problems so i can cancel the service, first big test will be 2nd August, community shield match.A few extra channels added end of August.Happy with the deal over phone £28.85 4K TV package and broadband , exc line rental.Surprised the 4k box was free, nice bonus but £44 engineer install applies as box needs hardwired to my Hub.

I wasn't sure of the 47 channels either, it seems they take the 25 normal premium channels, plus the 13 of them which you can get in HD (so count them twice) plus you get the 9 kids pack channels included.

Yes the box needs to be cable connected to the Hub5, powerline adapters will not be suitable. The engineer can either move the NTE5 socket and Hub5 to the YouView box or run surface mounted cat5 cable should the socket move not be possible.

Gives me an excuse to order a gigabit switch now so i can have all the other equipment hardwired and get rid of the powerlines.

Has anyone got any good offers for BT Sports for Sky TV subscribers?

I need to subscribe for the new footy season

Am already a BT broadband customer. Love Infinity! And get BT Sport. But had BT TV before, not great. Love Sky.

I had a long chat with a BT advisor. They have stated that a 44Mbps connection is required/recommended, however, for its Infinity 1 (up to 38Mbps) customers, as long as their line is capable of supporting 44Mbps then they will still be able to get it. It will also take the top hierarchy in bandwidth.

Currently, you are not going to be able to watch Champions League live via Sky. BT Sport have exclusive rights for the next 3 Seasons and will be showing every game.

BT prices are going up like hell, only mad people will join them.

deal is misleading... Your not factoring in all the other costs
