It's a specialist niche deal

It's a specialist niche deal

This deals is aimed at those on a low income to help them stay in touch and get on line.

and there is also link to training here

ukonlinecentres.com/run…ols

It also aimed to help those looking for work to search for jobs on line.

I'm posting this with the hope that it will be of use with those people in mind.

BT

Basic is a simple, low-cost phone service that is easy to understand

and helps you keep in touch, even if money is a bit tight. If you are on

a low income, BT Basic lets you make and receive calls – and helps you

manage how much you spend.

What do you get with BT Basic + Broadband?

BT Basic + Broadband includes:

broadband with up to 17Mb/s download speed

12GB usage, which typically means you can:

browse the internet for up to 30 hours a month

stream up to ten hours of video a month

download one film (standard definition) and up to ten albums a month.

BT Parental Controls

hot spots access

With

BT Basic + Broadband, that is £9.95 a month.

There

is no connection charge for installing broadband, but there will be a

postage and packaging charge for the BT Home Hub router that is needed

for the broadband to work.

If you go over your broadband usage limit, a charge will apply. BT will email you if you are close to going over the limit.

Defiantly deserves heat.
Just for coming up with this great idea for those who are less fortunate

Is this a niche deal?

It’s for those on low or no incomes.
Also although thue state there is a 12GB limit on the bb this isn’t enforceable though they might imply otherwise.

Is it a specialist deal?

If this includes line rental then it's a bargain.
That's an extra pack of fags to those on a low income that are unable to make rational decisions in life.

Looks to be a specialist niche deal.

No its not enforceable but they will charge you £1.50 GB what you go over i know because my mum is on BT basic and she used 20gb and had to pay £12 extra. Only happened once and we know the terms so it was fine.

There is a £10 limit on calls now so you can use it as much as you like however if you think you can test BT and call loads racking up £500's of calls then they will move you to the standard line rental package.

You can also pay quarterly by cash and cheque and not direct debit nonsense

Quite a good price - particularly if you want BT - so gets some heat from me. However, Sky were recently offering virtually this deal, but with unlimited data, via MSE for £9.50/mo. I haggled with TalkTalk when my previous broadband deal was ending and used that Sky deal for leverage. Got line rental, unlimited broadband and free basic mobile (SIMO) all for £9.50/mo plus the anytime calls bolt on for an extra £3.75/mo - i.e. ALL my telecoms needs for £13.25/mo.

direct debit nonsense

Yes, Direct Debit is nonsense.

Very basic? I wish I could get 17Mb/s download speed!

is this a deal

Niiiiiiiiiiche !

Does it come with a limited edition Burberry router?

This is a specialist niche deal, oh I also forgot to mwntion this is a specialist niche deal.

BT comes up with a sensible idea.

Any idea what type of deal this is?

Seems abit niche

The crazy thing about it is you can get Child Tax Credits ontop of DWP Benefits and still qualify, it’s hardly exclusive for low incomes, you can earn 16 or less hours on minimum wage and you don’t qualify but a CTC recipient can ! No wonder this country is dog eat dog mentality between ‘classes’, divide and conquer.

So much for low incomes OfcoN!

If you make calls, Plusnet (1mo) - 1500m, Unlimited Texts, 8GB 4G, £10PM HERE (Thanks Anon32)

That's ridiculous then. This isn't much cheaper really - it's not like standard unlimited broadband is 'that' expensive and the risk of going over (as your mum did) is quite high with a miserable 12GB. Typical BT promoting something as helping the public when as usual they are just helping themselves again

Guys, I was looking for specialist niche deal, anyone got any ideas

Yes, Direct Debit is nonsense.

"Yeah I mean like what right has a company got to set up regular debits from my account for services I've used and agreed to pay for"

I'm not in that relationship anymore.

I work in digital inclusion and wrote a guide to it a while back. You have to phone the dedicated number for an application form and there is waiting time while they check with the DWP for eligibility. It does give entitlement to free new line installation for almost anybody who qualifies for BT Basic. Not for everyone, but can be useful for those who need a connection and are on a low income. Unlike deals that work out to a similar price over a contact, this is an ongoing price, so useful for those who will find it difficult to remember to switch or find the best deal when one ends... Probably not many hukd members fall into that group, but plenty of other people do.

Upto 17meg is dependent on your proximity to the local telephone exchange. Closer you are the greater the speed, on a long line, the slower.

Use address/postcode check for estimate on dslchecker.bt.com/ads…A=Y

Oh right, thanks for the info. I worked indirectly for them for a few weeks last year and it seems it’s changed. We were told under no circumstances were we to offer this deal and that it was unlimited data as it wasn’t something they could make money out of.

Line rental?

Line rental?

Your question is incomplete. Please try again.

Line rental?

U can choose line rental only for about £5, or line n broadband for £10 .
Hope that helps

Yes I much prefer queuing up at the bank or post office with handfuls of cash or writing out a cheque and posting it off. It's far simpler than the money leaving your bank account automatically. I don't know what these idiots were thinking with Direct Debit!

People have been shot for being "defiant"!
I'm not sure that the same would happen if you were "definite" - No guarantees though

Did you mean DEFINITELY perhaps?

I am have been on hotukdeals so long that I'm more of a simmer, so although I know there's a better deal I often forget to switch for a few months and end up simmering.

Of course it is ...

Who uses 12GB on their Home Broadband Connection these day's?.

I can sometimes easily swallow that on my Phone alone! (via the WiFi Broadband Internet Connection in the House ...

And that's even with the absence of the then Internet feeds via the Laptop + other Wi-Fi enabled Devices in the House?.

(So how much moreso if they allllll were?).

But saying that, it all comes down to interpretation I though?. :-)
