Can i add them to my existing BT Wholehome extenders 3 disc setup (Not mini)
Hot, bought these a few weeks back for the same price from this seller. Great device which has solved our Wi-Fi signal in a 3 story house. I’m using them with the new sky q router with Wi-Fi turned off on the router.
Can the wired connection be used as a bridge on these?

No I don't think you can mix the mini with the standard discs
I have an external HDD attached to my router, do these have similar functionality ?

Leave the HDD as-is and these will still work fine.

How do the discs work with WiFi switched off on router do you get better signal/connection even where sky router was transmitting.

One disc is required to be wired directly into the router, hence you no longer need the separate router Wi-Fi signal. Then the other two placed around your house to spread the signal as a one complete mesh network.
I am cynical, I have 3 of the whole home and they arent powerful enough for our old 2ft wide wall house, thinking of getting another 1 or 2.. BT dont care about compatability, new kit, more money..
Will this work with Virgin broadband
Anyone rate these? I'm tempted, as the WiFi on my router is almost diabolically awful (drops out despite wired being fine) and this would be handy (I'd go two sets though probably need 4/5 sell the extra ones)
Broadband package aside (Sky gives me a 12.5 mb/s download and 0.95 mb/s upload speed based on speedtests), could this help with my broadband dropping?

FIFA online seems to drop out and log me out of PSN before half time of any game. I don't play any other games to test. And that's in our main room with the router situated next to the PS.

We got trouble upstairs too and it ain't like we got 3 floors or concrete walls.
Any difference in performance between these and the standard larger ones ?

I have these and they are amazing.

With this, I’m able to get WiFi in parts of my house where I don’t get any WiFi coverage.

I ordered 2 sets of three for £160; sixnon total maybe need 5 tops, so will sell one for £35 I reckon meaning £25 ea equivalent. Should give me full coverage in 4 bed and the garage which is separate from the house used for rowing/running (Firestick exercise ftw!).

Bit slower than my current router (AC1900) but I'd take solid WiFi over faster more flakey. My VR900 randomly gives up on WiFi and it's very annoying.

Larger ones are AC2600 - theoretical greater bandwidth allowance.
Shame not compatible with the other large ones, if that's the case. I have 3 of those and they still struggle to deal with some spots - direct line of sight over c7 metres through a doorway, and through a plasterboard wall, so fairly disappointed but would add more on every surface if it gave me a consistent signal...

Hi, not compatible unfortunately. These are a lower spec to the Standard disc, to compete in the market against the likes of Tenda MW3, D-Link COVR etc

The Mini Disc can only be used in bridge mode. One of the discs needs to be connected via Ethernet to router, the rest can be connected by Wi-Fi (or Ethernet if you have it in your house

Connect one by Ethernet to your router, then the others will connect to the “master” disc by Wi-Fi. It’s advisable to turn off your router’s wi-fi. This will reduce the wi-fi contention in your house and also avoid any of your devices accidentally reconnecting to the router rather than the Mini discs.

The Mini’s aren’t on sale to replace the Standard discs. It’s a lower spec and entry price for the Whole Home market to complete at the entry-level.

With 2ft wide walls you’re go to struggle with most devices, as Wi-Fi devices are limited on the power that they can transmit at.
Got sent a pair of the regular size ones for free from BT last week when I messaged them about slow broadband speed (fault was nothing to do with wifi) , so if your with BT might be worth a go.
These or tenda nova wm3

So would it be simpler to connect these disable router WiFi then switch all wireless appliances on then just put password into each device only because I am waiting for new internet supplier.

Ordered MW3 set from another deal here as it comes with MW6 unit. Theoretically should be possible to connect MW6 to the router over Gigabit interface and enjoy faster speeds with other LAN devices within your network ( like NAS boxes ). BT mini will be capped at 100 Mbps. From other side people seems to be having problem with firmware on Nova so BT may be a hassle free option.

Just use the same SSID and PWD as the router. Saves changing it on all your devices.

This is a great idea. I did the same and all devices were connected with the same SSID (password was same too) on these extenders..
I bought mine for £150 to fix the terrible Wi-Fi range of my Sky box and they’ve definitely been worth it.

At this price they’re a steal. Mega heat from me
Are these the cheapest ones available? Looking for similar ones under the £50 budget, , possible hopes for Black Friday?
Wish the BT discs had a built in router, atleast for the primary disc

Running out of space in the comms cupboard. With these I need to add a Disc and Router to the Virgin box and switch already in the cupboard

I think they’re good for range but not the best for speed. And even the range doesn’t compare with the best WiFi mesh solutions out there. That said for the average user I’m sure they’ll get the job done but if they’re better than the Nova mw series is another thing altogether.

If the router is situated next to the PlayStation (going off your comment), then surely that means you can just use a wired connection from the router to the PlayStation?

Wired is and will always forever be faster than wireless. Just a known fact.

If you already have wired connection and still get dropped outs from EA servers, it’s likely to be an issue with your ISP although wouldn’t rule out poor EA servers.

The BT Mini features a GigE port, so not restricted to the same cap at the MW3. Also BT has a dedicated helpdesk for their connectivity devices

Yes, connect all your devices to the BT whole home, then when you swap out your new ISP you won’t need to change everything again.

Or like someone has said above, you can rename the BT whole home to the same as your current router to save having to reconnect everything. Although if you go down this route, you really MUST disable the router wi-fi else you run the risk of your devices connecting to the router instead of the BT whole home.
My 2 cents... I used these to replace access points as they weren't fit for purpose. The whole home discs sorted our WiFi out completely. One on each floor and one in the garage. They also sorted all the problems out I had with the Sonos app when moving around the house.

Double checked that and you're right, slightly regretting getting MW3 deal now .

Oh well, will see how it goes - can always return it.

You’ll struggle to find a mesh system for under £50. Unless you find a twin pack on offer. However, I would really recommend 3 discs minimum.
