Get a YouView+ HD box and 12 months content for £5 a month plus £9.99 upfront for new BT TV customers that have BT Infinity, down from £10 a month. Probably cheaper than getting a YouView+ box from the eBay deals out there and you get a year of some extra channels.

It does renew your BT contract for another 12 months, so as long as you're ok to stay with BT for another year then that should be ok.

And now the blurb...

You'll get a YouView+ box that lets you pause live TV, record up to 300 hours of standard definition programmes and gives you 7 days of catch up TV.

Up to 80 Freeview TV and radio channels, including 10 HD channels such as BBC One HD, Channel 4 HD and ITV HD, plus FREE BT Sport Pack and AMC

Entertainment Plus gives you 28 premium channels, including Discovery Channel, MTV, Comedy Central, Gold, History and National Geographic.

Add flexible TV bolt-ons to get the best in films, box sets, sports, kids' TV and music – all on convenient 1-month contracts.

Total Entertainment package is also reduced (to £10 a month) and that includes Ultra HD, Kids and BT Sport HD 4k.

Beware, previously at end of contract (and deal) I tried to downgrade my tv package and they claimed on 2 occasions that it couldn't be done. Needless to say I told them where to go and shifted to another provider.

Just a possible little added cost also to be aware off. These boxs are not wireless and require a LAN connection. BT offered myself the pass through plug adapters for £20. Though unsure as on my order they bundled the setup and pass throughs together with £20 marked against it. Note it wasn't this deal at the time but they offered me the same during my annual renewal for the same price except no setup fee.

Seems a good deal on paper but having had recent dealings for a friend renewing their BT Broadband and Phone upgrade to Infinity I would say you need to read the fine print about who owns the box and any continuing rental as I have found that BT have a policy of sky rocketing prices once an initial offer ends and they are not easy people to deal with.

You own the box after 12 months, they sometimes apparently ask for the box back but its yours and you can simply not send it. Yeah I had BT Vision in the past and back then they were not always clued up (especially during the BT Vision/YouView switchover) but normally ringing back and talking to someone else gets the right answer.

From BT TV Terms...

17.3 If: (a) you keep the Service for which we supplied a Set Top Box for 12 months or more, you won't have to pay anything for that Set Top Box if you later end the Service for which the Set Top Box was supplied.

34.2 The Equipment (except the software in it and any BT Owned Equipment) is your property from delivery unless you cancel the relevant Service within your Cooling Off Period in accordance with Paragraph 5, in which case the Equipment will revert to being owned by us.

We received several carefully worded requests/invitations from BT to return the router and the Youview+ box after we left BT at the end of our contract, they even sent a very large bag to pack them in to post them back. You are not required to return them though and they are owned by you on commencement of your contract.

I still use the youview box and the router which now has openwrt on it.

I still have the last Youview box, now they sent me the new one.
Ok, it's not the slickest thing in entertainment but I am happy paying £3 month for tv with BT sports channel.
I can live with this having £71 a month in my pocket after cancelling Sky with the sports package.

Tried to get this as an existing customer - they want me to pay £49 for a box even though my current one dies every other day.
