Cex have these much cheaper. Some are brand new with sealed accessories. I managed to pick up a brand new 1TB 4K T4000 for £65 before Christmas. They're now £75, and condition will vary, but a much better deal IMO.

And the big plus is you don't have to deal with BT to get it!
This was posted this afternoon.. doesn't seem to be there anymore for some reason?
Anyway, good first post
Heat, good price.

Also, just under a tenner cheaper refurbed on eBay if you're not bothered about a box...

No.
anyone knows how long for the guarantee. Never try this seller, are they OK? Would it be troublesome if need to return for repair?
Thanks

thanks a lot
Would you get BT sport on these?
Also are they any good BT boxes?
Why the hot votes? Far cheaper at cex with a full year's warranty. Fantastic box though.
Are the new ones WiFi? Wireless yet .

Yes if you're a subsciber.
I don't think there's a better BT box at the moment, although there are bigger capacity ones.
No WiFi, wired only.
These are a great bargain as they are the latest Humax PVR made for BT. I’ve had 2 of them s/h from eBay and they’ve been excellent. Average cost is £50. Humax boxes are generally very reliable, I’ve used they for about 10 years with no faults.

I have a BT subscription but they wouldn't add it the box I bought on eBay because it wasn't supplied by them. Great box for freeview though and you can set up remote record with the app

You wanted it as an additional box or to replace an existing? If replacing an existing box you're normally asked which one you want active when you connect the second. Otherwise you have to pay extra to run two boxes at once, like Sky's multi-room.
I’ve been using one of these for a few years. Very reliable.
Yeah great little box, had one for a couple of years now (bought from ebay for £50 if I remember rightly). Better than the previous Humax boxes I owned which were by no means bad either. App is handy when your out and remember you forgot to record something. Other pluses are friendly interface and the iplayer/4OD/etc app are inbuilt and work seemlessly with the TV Guide section.
I find the remote sometimes unresponsive with a need to hold the remote at a weird angle or press twice to get the command through, using a harmony exhibits the same behaviour.
Anyone know why there are all these 'refurbs' around. Do they fail or is it just an excuse to sell cheap without upsetting BT or something?

The only problem with that it says seller not manufacturer refurbished,so probably wipe over with a rag and send out.

Are these boxes better than the first generation YouView boxes? I’ve got one of those and although nothing wrong with it, I do find it quite slow...

Possibly BT making a bit of money from those daft enough to send the box back when they switch ISP.

I picked one up from Ebay for around £35 a while back & it's OK as a backup to my main Humax branded PVR. Two things that bug me are you can't use the USB to offload/backup & the NowTV app only works with films. BT also crippled the ability to edit unwanted channels a while back but I've read that may be fixed now?

I'd agree with that and glad I heard someone else say it as I'd considered buying another remote - can't really complain for the price I paid as otherwise excellent

I can't work out why it does it, I thought it was environmental factors but others are also suffering, it's my only big bear.

We had this issue and found eventually that it was something to do with my mums Samsung TV interfering with the signal. Connected the same box to a different TV in another room and it worked fine, give it a try!

Good shout, it's no use to us in another room but the TV may change soon so things could get better, thank you

Yeah a recent update partially restored editing channels out, but only from the main TV guide. Channel up /down doesn't skip the deleted channels and if you use the mobile app it will still show the full line-up too. Hopefully they'll fix it properly one day...
Do you need BT broadband to use these? Or do you need to sign up to anything with BT?

Nope it'll function just as a standard freeview recorder. You'll need some kind of wired Internet connection from any provider if you want to use the catch up /streaming services (Netflix, now tv movies etc) and also you'll need to be connected when first setting up but it doesn't need to be BT.
