People do still watch OTA as it's sometimes easier to flick through the channels to find something rather than have too much choice with streaming and spend 20 minutes just finding something they really want to watch. Personally I would give this a miss and look on local Facebook selling pages for a youview box. You can quite easily find them for as little as a tenner, sometimes even free if someone is having a clear out before a house move.

I have this and i think its great!. I hate watching adverts even on streaming, so i record programmes and then fast forward.!

These are a really well designed and solid Freeview box with additional apps.
Just to clarify, you don't need a BT TV subscription for it to work
Great units, simple to use.
Got one (refurbished Grade B, though it appeared brand new when it arrived) from Stockmustgo via eBay about 4 weeks ago for £42...

Do people still watch OTA broadcast? And what's so special about this box? There are freeview/freesat combos on ebay for less
I have used the Humax box. Is this much the same?
CEX £52

How old is your Humax box?
Humax make these boxes so it is much the same but with BT branding.

And you get all the main apps inc Netflix/NowTv and Amazon, i wish there was a SKYGO, it would be perfect!
I have bought few of these before locally and sell on eBay. Firstly there is nothing to refurbish unless wipingbthe remote is consideredrefurbishment. Secondly £79 is the price for UHD 4K version and not standard version. These sell normally between £35 to £49. .

This box has Neflix & chatch up TV apps built in which is handy. I also find the EPG easier to navigate than older Humax models

i use ethernet!
These are very good boxes, made by Humax as others have said. The key differences between this and the equivalent Humax (2000T) is that while the Humax has a metal chassis, it also has a built in fan, which the BT box does not, which is therefore quieter.

I upgraded from a TalkTalk Huawei DN-370T (not with either BT or TalkTalk, just FreeView) to one of these and the performance in terms of UI responsiveness and speed is much better.

As others have said, keep an eye on Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace; I got a brand-new, unused one for £50 for someone who'd got BT Fibre but didn't want the box

With it having no WIFI it should be much cheaper. Ta
I find the reception on mine poor compared to the freeview tuner on my lg TV, but that would only an issue if you live somewhere with reception problems.

Considering its age, this seems expensive to me.

Most sky subscribers still watch OTA. Do you mean to ask if people still watch DTT ? Digital Terrestrial Television as oposed to cable or sattelite or ip based streaming.

They dont come with wifi hence BT supply them with 10 meter ethernet cable
Before cutting the cord...I used to have Wish | Freesat V7S DVB-S2 Satellite TV Receiver FTA Full HD 1080P USB WIFI Support YouTube PowerVu Biss key Clines Video Broadcasting Receptor
wish.com/pro…94e

Not a bad set as you get freeview and freesat on one box + youtube and other apps.
Anyone ever figure how to side load apps onto these I’m sure it’s an android based unit. Or am I just dreaming haha!!

Yes, really simple... when you select a programme to record from the guide you are prompted whether to select series (default option) or one-off.
Just a heads up for anyone using the YouView app on their mobile device. You may have heard that from the end of March they are discontinuing it and so you will no longer be able to use it to schedule recordings remotely to your YouView box. Due to customer complaints feedback, BT have now enabled users to schedule recordings even if you are not a BT customer using their BT TV app.
