Decathlon must be changing their product line.
28% off the Rafal 740 bike reduced from £900 to £649.99.
Its a bit higer spec than your average bike for the canal path but a very capable single track and xc bike well priced.
Show me a better XC bike for the price.
PS I prefer the nimbleness of a 26" wheel over larger 27.5" or 29".

I'm not sure where the deal is...
Plenty bikes come up around this price range like the Boardmans.

Show me a boardman of this spec at this price with a weight under 13kg... i'd really like to see, I'm sure it'll have the suntour forks or Rockshox XC

nice, pretty light too

I bought one of their bikes two weeks ago on the suggestion from this site for my Mum. It came, it wasn't set up, it was scratched and both wheels were not true, the front wheel felt like it was going over a bump every turn. Worst Bicycle ever, it cost £500, on sale from 750 and her £150 Bicycle was a lot better than that.

Now I'm struggling with their CS team, they sent two couriers out for whatever reason, I sent it with one of them, they are saying they haven't got it yet. I'm guessing they're going to make a refund hard at this point, they keep pushing them setting it up and sending it back but I'm not interested, you should have sent it right the first place. I look at the reviews and there are tons of people saying the same thing, one person said they had to send it back 5 times lol.

Good luck if you can understand a word they're saying though, They're Indian or French or something on the end of the line.

Not gonna buy anything from them again.

I don't work for them, im just looking at the specs of the bike, your not quoting the same bike (the bike is made of separate components not all made by btwin) and it looks like you've had crappy customer service. I'd complain and return the bike, I think they have a workshop in most stores where they will adjust it without an appointment. Imo the workshop has decent technicians. much better than halfords etc. for your scratch ask for a new bike?

Looks a decent enough bike for the money. It'll be reduced as fewer people will want to buy something with 26" wheels.

Yep no one will buy 26" now. Silly wheelsize.

You found a decent spec boardman yet? ... i'm genuinely interested, need a new bike

quite so...
26" has been silly for the past 25 years or more:
it'll never catch on

rather spend 650 on a second hand santa cruz chameleon (other bikes available) than this junk

Would never buy a bike from this company. Wouldn't buy this bike from anyone.

I always enjoy bike threads ... puts a smile on my face to hear the whining from the people with no intention of buying a bike, but feel as though everyone should hear their random/made up gripes ...

Nice spec for the price ... hot!

Lol. It's what keeps people like us in business....
On a serious note, I didn't realise above that the fork was for superior to the recent 650b Boardman so I'll give you that.
Also, I think 26" is becoming obsolete amongst actual MTBers (apart from maybe 27+)

Are they good on trails or are they more for downhill riding?

It was alright for everyone else too before 29" and 650b

Forks are £400, wheels £150, brakes £80... so good value..

Already put more than a thousand miles on my triban 500se, find it to be a great bike from decathlon. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another bike from them but want something hi-tech - possibly electric, electric suspension etc.

And people cant get rid of 29 ers now, 650b is a realisation that 29 is too awkward to turn ( great going up ) so 650b is a compromise. My son has a (16 and races) has a 650b and prefers 26.

On people preferring Halfords to Decathlon, I have heard plenty of stories about Boardmans with paint defects. They both are effectively supermarkets so you are not going to get the same level of service as a lbs.

Hot and down to £529.99 now
Only Size S available at the time of writing this

had done 3k on my b;twin triban 7,the only prob was a wheel bearing gave up,phoned CS who said they would get the manager of the local store to contact me,20 mins later he did he offered me a new set of the same wheels or an upgraded set fitted,if i pay the difference,i walked out of the shop that evening with the upgraded wheels fitted, brilliant customer service and brilliant wee bike
