They must have increased the price to £359.99 to make it look like a deal as its always been £299.99, but its a great spec bike for the money you would have to pay another £200 for a branded bike with the same spec.

does seem good money for the spec

Does it come with sideburns?

Yup - this has always been £299. I think with all the interest in road bikes after the Tour de France and Olympics people are increasing prises as demand increases!

Only long black socks

I bought one on these a few weeks ago, first road bike, and i'm very happy with it!

It got a good review in this month's cycle active, i would say it's the best road bike you can buy for £299!

Sorry cold for me..This is standard price for the B'Twin Triban 3 so not really a HOT deal as such. In fact a bit naughty by Decathlon (shame on them) putting the price up and then down.

Good bike nevertheless...

Does this have clearence for mudguards?

I believe it does. People on cyclechat, bikeradar etc. claim to have purchased some and fitted them okay. Although one chap did say he 'customised some' but I have not seen anyone claiming you cannot fit them.

Edit: Just had a look on cyclechat again and one member mentions that: "The only problem I've come across is that mudguard fitment is tight at the front when using Crud Roadracers."

I ordered one (when the delivery price changed to £1) but have yet to hear back except for my order confirmation... no idea how long the preparation / dispatch work takes.

From reading around biking forums both bikes seem pretty well regarded as "beginner bikes" - but the Triban is usually preferred as it has "carbon forks" and is lighter.

I received mine today and did have a look at Halford's Carrera offerings, I would go for the Triban on weight alone as saving 1.2KG is handy - especially for acceleration and tackling hills.

Also on a personal note I prefer the Triban's pedal(s) (clips), but that is just my opinion.

What size frame is best for someone 6 ft 2 inch in height? 60 or 63? Thanks

Rough guide .... evanscycles.com/hel…ing

Get the 60. Better still get a better spec used bike on ebay. I upgraded my triban after 2 months

the BTwin triban 3 IS a very reliable road bike for the money ok it will never win the tour de france but for fitness touring and long runs its a really brilliat cycle also has a triple chainset ,it recently had a winning review against 3 other road bikes in august cycling active magazine page 58[2012] and it won hands down even the editor who wrote the review had to order one the other cycles it came up against were the GT GTR SERIES 4 £700 THE VITUS DECIUM £900 THE PINNACLE DOLOMITE ONE £500 AND THE BTWIN TRIBAN 3 WON EASLYok in my opintion i dont like it in red but thats just me the most stunning looking out of all 4 road bikes was the vitus decium but if you can get a hold of the magazine you will be heading for the decathlon store and ordering the BTwin triban 3....colin.

Great deal... this is a fantastic bike for the price. People have guessed its worth twice what it is.

Moneysaving tip.. don't forget to get a loyalty card -- you'll get about £6 back for £300 spend.

They're selling out quick.
