Hi all, first timer so go easy please...! Been looking for a budget laptop with good spec under £500. Ideally wanted I7 &/ or quad core, however this and another I will post seem the best I can find. Appreciate your feedback, good and bad, in advance.

Posted one here hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…473 which I think is slightly better than this, but this that bit cheaper for those on a budget.

Essential specs:

I5 - 4200u (dual core)
6gb RAM
750gb HDD
HD screen

Is £379.97 really budget?

Lol, I suppose that depends on your budget RSB! A better way of my wording it perhaps is looking for as good a performing, functional laptop as possible for under £500. Not great deals about from what I can see, this and the other the best of a bad bunch, although there is a fantastic deal on here somewhere for an I3 at a genuine budget price!

Refurb version of this at currys/pcworld for £309.99

To be honest though, is 500gb big enough hard drive for you. Music and videos will fill that really quick.

Also if you really want good specs, an integrated graphics card isn't ideal

If graphics card isn't needed check out HP Pavilion on currys. Model 15-p189sa
1.5tb hard drive. Better i5 processor. Better battery
Just have to remove all the crapware they install

Thanks bugeyed, shortlisted that bad boy! Looking for a laptop for my boss who is a bit of a technophobe, just want it to be able to work quickly using business applications/ programmes. Thanks for your suggestion.

My i5 was £100 less than this

I bought a couple of these just before Christmas. Whch bits of the HP software have you uninstalled, is there an easy way to do it and which ones did you leave on?
Cheers,
