Budweiser Budvar 5l Keg £9.99 @ B&M

Found 22nd Nov 2012
Spotted these in Nottingham Radford B&M today, they've been in stock for ages at £12.99, now dropped to £9.99 presumably to clear, BBE is Jan '13.
This is proper imported beer, not the brewed under licence stuff we usually get. Also, not to be confused with that American excuse of a beer called Budweiser.
Throw the keg in the fridge & pop out the tap for 5 litres of east european sweet beer.

Good price. ABV 5.0%

Good heads up. They originally started out at £15 before being dropped to £12.99. They give a bang on pint of Budvar (emptied one of these babies last Saturday) especially if you can get them in your fridge.

PS
I hope that you are not Mick Hucknall of Simply Red fame as I will have to withdraw my hot vote on that basis alone.

Hmmm, does one drive 13 miles in traffic for the chance of a few of these?? Heat added :-)

Worry not, I am not ginger.

Could I also point out to date worriers, this won't become poison after Jan '13, feel free to stock up.

I think I will tell my husband. He'll hire a lorry lol...

Wont fit in the fridge

Wont fir in the fridge so voted warm

Don't care about it not fitting in the fridge. Going to hang on to it until nearer Christmas, when just sticking it outside for a few hours will get it nice and chilled! Nearest B&M to me though is Ladybay Retail Park in Nottingham. Might swing by and see if they have them there too. Heat added. From a former Hucknallite...

What do you do with the empty? Is there a deposit or some other way you can re-use these?

Proper beer.

I just popped in for one of these and while there noticed they have Innis and Gunn Independence Day beers in a four pack for £3.79. I've posted it but this is also worth a punt in my opinion.

You can get 3.96 litres of this beer for £9.98 in Tesco. This is in 330ml bottles. So with the deal post here you get an extra 26% for the same money, but you have the logistical issue to deal with. I'd say that it's swings and roundabouts.

Saw these in Beeston aswell (and possibly Long Eaton?) Though I can't remember if they were at this price.

Never had this stuff so didn't take the chance. But if you say its worth the punt then guess what i'll be doing tomorrow night

Anyway Nice one OP.

Have some fire!

Ahhh, the real Budweiser! Great stuff and great deal!

Sf2rox - if you like American Budweiser, DON'T buy this! This is a decent brew and worth more than the asking price. Will be hunting this down if I can find a store near me

nah, Don't really like American pig swill. Doesn't even touch the sides.

I'm more of a 3 bottles of the good stuff for a fiver bloke. So this sounds like it might be up my street.

Might nip into Beeston soon to... confirm... the offer is the same there.

If you were lucky enough to get a Chambrer beer cooler (like me;)) then these kegs are great!

Whenever ive bought these kegs, i end up with 5 pints of 80% froth and 20% beer, then finally get a couple of decent pints and work out I had so much wastage, it was a waste of money.

What am I doing wrong? not cold enough? not let it sit long enough?

As long as the froth stays in the glass there's no wastage, you just need to improve your pouring technique.

spotted these yesterday in my Accrington branch, am now just bout to leave to pick up 2 for friday night, great proper larger at a price to good to be teetotal, heat for u m8ty

just got 1 at pudsey Leeds. not tried it before but thought I'd give it a go at this price. also they were still marked up at 12.99 on the shelf but scanned through at 9.99. cheers op.

Probably have a use-by-date of 30tn Nov. if it's B&M.

Do you get a tap with it?

Aldi were selling 18x440ml cans of Stella yesterday for £11 - the now horrible 4.8% stuff. Works out at £1.39 a litre.

Name me one brand of canned/bottled beer with a "use by" date. If you read the first sentence of the OP, this is "Best before" Jan '13.
If you drank this in Jan '14 it will still be fine. BB & Use by are 2 very different things that a lot of people have trouble grasping the difference.

this the stuff from the Budvar brewery in Czechoslovakia?

I wonder if this is brewed under license or if it is from Czech Rep?

As for not fiting in fridge throw it outside or in the shed.

Friday night Kegger at yours?

Shame,no B&M, by me,love this beer

Great beer, first drunk this in Czech in about 1995 when it was about 10p for a 500ml bottle and that was before you got the money back for the bottles! Pity I have no B&M's near me.
