do not touch! it was working with me copying over files... i then put something down on the desk causing a minor vibration and it failed.

Superb piece of kit. Had mine about 4 months now and its made backing up so much simplier.
Easy to connect to PC, 2 X laptops and 2 x Xbox 360's to stream.
Recommend 100%

Its been this price for a few days now, I was so tempted but the reviews are pretty poor. I think I will give the 500gb version a punt if it comes down from the £69.99

Had mine since Christmas and it works perfectly.

OK ....... not sure what caused the vibration (probably the house falling down on it?), but I've had no issues what so ever with my drive ..... its more than fit for purpose.

Does what it says on the tin (not brilliantly - but for this price?) ..... I paid £100 for mine (about 4 months ago) and I'm more than happy with the unit.

Oh - and if it was minor vibration that caused it to fail ....... your covered by the warranty (2 years I think) ......

Overall though, I'm pleased with my purchase ........ have so heat .....;)

no disk is perfect, thats why i have 6 copies of all my important files - source file, 2 on 2 usb drives onsite, 1 offsite copy, 2 in a server...could be why i have almost 11tb of storage (though only used about 50-60%)..lol

The bain of society today "It ain't my fault!" If the item is designed as a NAS, it cannot be used as a coffee cup warmer, a door stopper or something to stand on to reach the top shelf. It is a NAS and should be used as one. And if you try to use it for something else and break it. It's YOUR fault. Even if it just dropping your wallet on top of it.

You could try Royals solution buy 6. Use one as a coffee cup warmer, one as a door stop, one as a step to reach the top shelf, and one to use as a NAS, one as a backup NAS and one as a backup NAS that's kept at home.

What happens if all 6 fail? Then you're screwed aren't you?!

Most of the reviews I've read on this state it struggles to achieve even 10mb transfer speeds. This on a gigabit NAS? What use is it if it takes forever to dump data to it and struggles to stream hd?

Cold.

I've had one of these for nearly two years and it's been perfect. I stream 1080p content off of it no problems.

They are also very hackable. I have a usenet client installed on mine amongst other things.

Dependable how can you say a nas with a single disk is "Dependable"

Not had a problem with speeds always get around 10-11 mb. Expired now as it's gone up to £94.99.

You've voted cold based on performance without any experience? often people using nas have no idea how to set them, ie one guy said it stuttered streaming HD only to reveal he was uing wireless over a G network....

I have the 2TB and get a steady 25mbps.... It stream HD 1080p files with DTS audio perfectly.... read my review on amazon and you'll see it's actually one of the best nas on the market

It is still available!
