Buffalo's LinkStation Quad offers large, secure and remotely accessible storage for your home or SOHO network - all with the peace of mind of RAID technology. In addition to its RAID drive security, the LinkStation Quad has a snap-off front plate, which gives easy access to the quick-swap hard drives, which allow for a drive replacement without the need for shutting down the unit.

The LinkStation Quad comes loaded with features. With its built-in Web Access feature (optimized for iPhone), you can access your files anytime via web browser from anywhere - best of all, you can also upload files while away from home. A built-in DLNA multimedia server allows you to stream multimedia content directly to any DLNA player on your network and the BitTorrent client lets you access and download multimedia files without the need of a PC running during the download. A DirectCopy function enables the Quad to automatically save multimedia files from USB attached storage devices to its internal hard drives.

The LinkStation Quad has a heavy-duty cooling system, which allows the unit to run cool and quite at the same time. The LinkStation Quad is best suited for home and SOHO users who want a reliable RAID 5 NAS, as well as the ability to stream multimedia content to their entertainment devices.

Raid 5 protects your data while ensuring maximum capacity for storage on your drive. The ratio of storage to back up is an impressive 75% meaning that for each TB off capacity 750Gb is allocated to storage with 250GB to back up. Your back up copy is stored as an algothirim which in the event of drive faliure allows the information to be recovered.

Memeo Backup Software:

Memeo backup software for PC and Mac is available on all Buffalo Network Attached Storage devices.

This software allows you to securely store, track and share data files such as music, photos, presentations, etc. while you manage and preserve those files for additional data security. Memeo solves the technical, time and cost issues that keep consumers and small business customers from backing up digital content and important business files.

Secure Lock Ware

In today's world of digital storage, ensuring data confidentiality is a necessity. Buffalo Secure Lock Ware is a free software security tool which offers a range of security options to encrypt your confidential data. Be it lost, stolen or illegally accessed, Buffalo Secure Lock Ware has you covered!

Secure Lock Ware offers two security options: (1) Drive Encryption (2) File/Folder Encryption

Apple Bonjour enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on Computer networks.

BitTorrent Certified

BitTorrent is the global standard for distributing high-quality files over the Internet. You can begin your download and then turn your computer off while your TV shows or Music tracks download. With thousands of newly-released movies, TV shows, music tracks, and popular PC games available for download, you can easily find what you want, when you want it.

The Advantage of this feature is two fold, the first being that powerconsumption of the unit is sub 25 Watts per hour compared to over 200 Watts per hour on a standard PC. The second being that most PC hard drives are not designed for the volume of usage they expirrence when downloading and hence shorten the lifespan of the drive within the computer.

DLNA Certified

The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is an international, cross-industry standard designed to enable communication between your various consumer electronic products, and mobile devices. Therefore enabling easy media streaming between devices.

It's my fist deal i've submitted so go easy...

Seems the cheapest for this particular model and doesn't receive such a bad write up

Still slightly pricey

Still slightly pricey

Take a look at other NAS units then you'll see it isn't so bad.

If you break it up into it's components and price it that way.

4x 2tb drives = approx 4 x £90 = £360

So you're effectively paying £140 for a RAID5 capable 4 bay NAS box which isn't too bad.

Not sure on the reviews on this though but on paper seems good, voted hot.

*EDIT: Just noted it's 1.5TB not 2TB, still not bad but less reasonable

hmm, 6TB. love it

I love the way large capacities of anything are always broken down into pointless (but impressively large) figures

Up to 1,704,000 digital photos

Not bad considering you get the drives included. Assuming, that is, you do. It would appear so from the rather vague description.

I fail to see what is vague about 4x 1.5tb or 6tb storage?

Perhaps you should wear glasses or actually read before posting.

can't believe this didn't go red hot at that price - its now gone back up to £794.99 and the cheapest elsewhere is still kicking up to £600 or thereabouts...

Gutted I didnt catch it at £499
