Except for the Fakes on Ebay of course.

Chunky? It is only slightly wider than the USB connector. Long? I would say it is about 70mm long. Depends what you call long.:giggle:

Arrived today... HD Tach results as follows:

Long test:
Random Access 1.2ms
Average Read: 32.4 MB/s

Short test:
Random Access 1.2ms
Average Read: 32.6 MB/s

It arrived pre-formatted as FAT32. Tests above are on that...

Just got mine.

Results as follows from HDtach.

Long test
Random access - 1.8ms
Burst: 32.1MB/s
CPU: 18%
Avg Read: 29.2MB/s
Avg Write: 11.8MB/s

Real world test from uncached. Tranferring 300MB files on and from Laptop.

Avg Read: 25MB/s
Avg Write: 6MB/s

If you think that is long you would be shocked if you saw the size of my ****

Seriously though, with prices of passport size external hard drives going close to £30-40, is it worth buying a flash type datastik?

Or is there an advantage of these over PSEH's? Other than size.

size is there advantage you can't put a harddrive in ya pocket

A 'passport' size one you could - some quote that they fit in a shirt pocket.

Horses for courses I suppose - I was really wondering if there was an advantage of flash over the other.

mains one i see is the lack of moving parts in a flash drive, meaning the data will be less likely to get ******ed if the you drop the flash drive, unlike a hard drive where you can easily bork the entire thing by accidently dropping it

4gb version is £13.99 exc. delivery.

seems to be a lot of 8gb drives under 30ukp on amazon, i wish they'd post benchmarks in the details, this does seem to be one of the better ones we've seen on hukd though.....
