  • Certainly odd pricing on the face of it, but this deal seems to be for 2 x 1TB (Internal) & 1 Free 1TB external USB HDD, whereas yours is for 2x2TB (Internal). Guess it's what's of most value to you.
Both are old models with pretty weak processors and USB 2.0

Not worth it IMO
Personally I would avoid these like the plague as they are slow and offer limited functionality compared to a Synology or QNAP Nas.

On the other hand, you are getting 3TB of storage for the price of an entry level Synology or QNAP enclosure with no drives.

You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Any suggestions for a better NAS?
I have an old Linkstation, but it seems to have failed last week.

The LinkStation is marketed for home use wheras the TeraStation is for small businesses. The TeraStation has some business oriented functionality such as hardware RAID, hot swappable drives, UPS support, printer server, etc.
How does this compare to a Synology DS216J oh wise ones?

See you say that but even some of the fairly expensive rackmount ones were still just Linux software raid, and what's worse is the OS was on a Sata Disk on Module (DOM) and had NO raid at all....

At least those ones are X86 and there's enough access to the Bios to just rip the flash module out and get it to boot off something else.

My Experience of buffalo firmware/software thus far has made me want to avoid it like a plague.

I’d avoid your pointless comments like plague, do you own one? Have you ever had on running for years to back up your statement?
I have one form 13 minths running 24/7, guess what? No issues

Dude, don't get so defensive - so you bought a crappy NAS and feel you must do some flag waving to compensate. Honestly it's fine - we ain't judging you. Relax.

I am defending a product that I own and work while you seems to have escaped from a mental institution and you live with some sort of syndrome, it's called "I KNOW IT ALL".
Have a nice day.
