Thank you op! Was only looking at the weekend for a new bottle.

I misread that as being the best bourbon FOR a 6+ year old.

Imagine my surprise my little boy screamed out "DADA, MY FACE BURNS". Oh how we laughed at my inability to read and lack of understanding the law.

Still, he was happy later, telling me how much he loves me, and then asking if I could order him a takeaway, before throwing up on the dog.

I'm struggling to understand what you mean. There are many other bourbons that are 6+ years old - many with actual age statements that guarantee they're 6+ years old, as opposed to just the rumours that buffalo trace is that old. Also, the Buffalo Trace you can buy here is the same as the one you can buy in the US - what makes you think it's different?

Not sure on the age statement but the US version of BT is 45% ABV.

Actually the majority of whats put in buffalo trace is more than 6 year old and its the master distillers go to which you would think would be the antique collection or even the pappy for example. You won't find a better value bourbon at this age and price. I am not saying there aren't better bourbons out there as there are plenty but at this price point.
Buffalo trace is completely different in US, just the very fact that it is 45% abv rather than the 40% makes a nice difference on the pallet.

No better bourbon at this price, I can agree with. But you did actually say there are no other 6+ year old bourbons, that's what confused me
I stand corrected on our buffalo trace being different, I didn't realise it was 45% in the states, that's a big surprise to me.

Ah right, yea I just re-read it and yea I didn't mean it was the only one
I would highly recommend trying the 45% one, sometimes can get in dutyfree and usually come in 1 litre bottles (bonus)

I've always wanted to give the US version a try, didn't know you maybe able to get it in duty free so I'll keep my eye out.

You can also sometimes get it from Gerry's Wines in Soho. They are usually my go to for alcohol unless you get amazon doing cracking deals or at the moment you can still get Eagle Rare 10 year from asda at £28. Rumour is they are getting rid of the age statement so get it while you can and at a cracking price.

Cheers for the heads up about Gerrys I'll have a look! I had heard the same about Eagle Rare as well, my local Asda just last week stopped selling it and started selling Makers 46.
