This might look a bit different as it's a combination of parts I recently bought from eBuyer to build a computer for myself. The cheapest price (even from Dell Outlet) could not match the parts itself, so I call it a bargain! I can confirm building a computer will definitely save you at least £100. The display is extra Value but the reviews were so good I ventured to order it!

Ordered Sunday night got it on Tuesday with super saver delivery! Very pleased with my order. The suggested parts are as follow:

You would need to add an o/s to compare with Dell etc. So another £75 on top of this price

ubuntu would work a breeze though

a great media pc and only £50 for vista(£20 for 2gb more ram if needed) and it can be a very good gaming pc if you upgrade the gfx card to something like an ati 4670(£55) or better. Is a psu+case supplied? Why is this cold?

Have some heat ;-)

Cheap build with cheap parts. You're better off spending a little more and getting a better psu, ram, graphics card. Good deal for what you're getting, but not really future proofing...

Built MANY PCs in the past, but life is just too short now pre-built machines are so cheap and easy to come by.

You can have weeks of fun getting any duff parts replaced, & hours to get it working. I really couldn't be bothered for such a low spec machine, when it can be all done for you, but each to his own. Definitely agree that spending a bit more in most categories will produce a much better value end result, and if you are making all that effort, it seems daft not to.

Still, it makes a change from all the second hand dross that usually gets posted :-)

you will always have opinions with people trying to diss the spec - but for whats there and for the price and for the effort put into the post - heat added

Quite agree - heat added.
I used to build PC's and can see Nicaj's point.
(Last build I did took 4 weeks to get working through faulty parts. motherboards can be fussy over the brand of memory, leading to returns etc. Still the above spec is now tested !
Cheap power supplies a big problem. Bought a Dell laptop and the hard drive failed. Engineer came and fixed it within a week. Bought Fujitsu siemens and Dell desktops, nice and quiet and totally reliable - so I don't build anymore).

Like it! Good way of getting a new pc. Heat added. My only input is this, why not a quad core 6600 cpu?
