Not sure how these work, do you just connect it to an existing sky dish and then you're good to go?

Being dumb here, but this gets sky channels?

Bit worried the website I looked at immediatly listed a youporn interface, is this kid friendly?

Can you record programs? Like Sky+?

Its satelite, if you don't plug in a phone line it can't communicate back surely?

EDIT: I know it has internet, but they wouldn't write this to talk back to sky surely?

FFS Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm going to guess this box is useful for many legal things but it can used card sharing over the internet ?. So you plug the box into into your dish and also connect it to the internet which is how the card sharing takes place ?. Highly illegal i'm sure it used to be hard to setup with CAMs etc i would also think you would need a fast internet connection. I'm sure someone out there in HUKD land who owns one will clear up any confusion soon enough. But i'm sure illegal none the less

Its a great Free To Air receiver with HD and PVR via USB, so yes its 100% legal...if people go ahead and setup card sharing its their own responsibility.
I still have a sky HD box without subscription, so am guessing I get the same channels this does (without illegal jiggery pokery anyway)?

In the simplest sense, 'normal' satellite TV is a one way connection

Sky cannot trace your usage - effectively, you're only sucking information in through the cable; there is no output (back to Sky).

How would you get the firmware for you know?

Thats kind of what i thought. Probably better quality and cheaper than a budget freesat HD receiver box and more adaptable too.

Firmware will already be installed ... just go search on Google - pay a few quid ... watch a load of football .. 1 x 3PM kick-off (almost always United) is shown from the same satellite as Sky UK.
anyone own one of these? whats the user interface like?im ready to give up playtv on the ps3 and utilise the joined skydish my block of flats have installed
Hurry up and absorb any info you want from this deal. All of these comments will be deleted by a mod soon.

But a good deal for a good box never the less. Just the wrong place to talk about its capabilities...

connect comp to tv, sorted & legal.

Yeah, single tuner. You would need a Vu+ Duo or similar for that feature

Wow, quite a jump in price there. Shame really as I would have ordered this I think.
Does anyone know if inputs can be "shared" between normal sky box and this one? i.e. one input split into 2 feeding both boxes

You can use the F loop from the Skybox F5 to share the feed from the LNB. When the skybox is on standby, normal sky gets the signal. When skybox f5 is on it gets the signal.

You will need a loop cable like below;
