Just to elaborate the movement is actually an ETA 2892 A2, the movement cartier use as a base, also omega use it and base their Co-axial movement off of it. I mean it can’t be that bad. I thought it was a Sellita, which even then isn’t a bad thing as they are basically ETA equivalent. https://watchbase.com/eta/caliber/2892-a2

Yeah I know my Seiko is the same. Chronos you have to be careful with on other stuff too.

Deemo

Totally Agree - I’d never buy the watch based on 2nd hand sale prices as that’s the price dealers are selling at not the price you’ll get I’d buy the watch as I like and want to enjoy it - just if you get new watch at similar price to 2nd hand you will lose less compared to paying full price if you decide to sell and buy a different watch to enjoy

Because of their heritage being more premium pens, I don’t think the brand has ever been truly respected as a premium watchmaker and there lies the problem. Also because most people don’t write that often the brand has kind of lost its relevance and coolness. I’m sure the watch is well made etc but I would still rather have something else for the money. Also it has too much ‘Tudor’ in its DNA.

paul.apple

peter1969uk

Why would anyone want to buy a watch for an Investment? You buy it to wear it, and wearing a watch usually devalues the watch. I used to think similar, I'd never pay £40,000 on a car, when a £13,000 will do the same thing. However when you are able to afford these thing's through hard work or luck. Then you start to appreciate the finer things in life. Watches are a passion for most collectors. In my current position, I'd never dream of buying a £25,000 watch, I won't slate someone off because they do. However for the last 13 years I've been in a position where I can consider a special purchase now and again. I work hard for it, so why not? I don't go ranting at people for paying £1000 for a mobile, or spending money on console's. Or smoke 40 a day, drink everyday. So why do you feel the need to complain about things which you have no interest in?

I you read above, I said: "However, I don't think people should vote either way as long as they don't buy or planning to do so"

Kratos69

What’s hard to understand? If you think it’s a good deal and like the product then vote it hot, if you think it’s a bad deal vote it cold. I personally wouldn’t vote hot or cold on a product I had no interest in, simply because I wouldn’t have clicked on the post in the first place. Secondly, how do you know what people can afford? Maybe it’s using a site like this where people save on everyday items they “need” means they can “afford” to treat themselves to an item of luxury every now and then. Life would be pretty mundane if you didn’t.

Ouzoherb

My cash poor nephew has a bretling watch, cost him 750 for a service . He's happy, I think he's mad. Strange world.

georgesvalch

I learned how this website works, and I grabbed some good stuff over time thanks to this community contribution. However, I don't think people should vote either way as long as they don't buy or planning to do so. When some watches on here get 5000 degrees, I can't believe that thousands of people bought it at that time, or at least they been close to that.

hal2play

Ok, I understand your point, but, the point of voting HOT is based on whether you think it’s a good price for the given item; This particular item is 15% off, equating to a saving of £1k. This is a great price compared to the next cheapest available. Voting cold shouldn’t be solely on the basis of whether one can afford it or not!

Yep you’re absolutely right, I’ve stopped wasting my time with posting now after somewhere I posted was refused. Just can’t be bothered, the mods don’t even look into who the company is 90 percent of the time I’m sure. Like an old nightclub, if you’re not on the list you’re not coming in.

peter1969uk

Quite a few well established and reputable Jewellers are not allowed on HUKD. Due to the lack of reviews, how many people actually review traditional walk in shops. Unfortunately you end up missing lot's of deals. Now if it was a game's shop I'm sure that the Mod's would be aware of them already.

Kratos69

Ah there you go, another one not paying the HUKD tax lol

Baldricky

Jamieson and Casey are not “approved” for HUKD, hence I don’t post their deals. Family business, been around forever (1733), AD for Patek, Rolex, Omega and others, quote often cut the price of individual watches.

gils04

I have been well aware of Bremont for some years. However, as a watch company you cannot just walk into the £2000-£6000 with no history or new technology like in-house movements. Bremont watches are nice but they belong to the price range of £200-£1000 just like other microbrands like Phobos, Farer and HELM. Bremont have no history and they have tried all sorts of tricks for people to see them as Rolex, Breitling, Omega and Tudor, such as getting Youtube influencer, TGV, to host a Bremont watch exhibition. All of it smacks of too much effort. They are not the same as these luxury brand and they should accept that and price their watches accordingly.
