Gosh, there's some weird bags out there:

Like it myself, does take me back to the 70's but in a good way, loved my little rucksack as a kid.

Good for one night, maybe two but I wouldn’t count on it for anything long time
Quality item although the style may not suit everyone's taste.
Ordered Colour: Evilo Ballistic, thanks OP.
Given what happened in New Zealand, I'm not sure a backpack called tinder is a good idea right now...
Anyone know how waterproof these are or can recommend a brandname bag large enough to fit a 15inch laptop?

Burton, Dakine and Oakley make good packpacks.

Probably plenty of other decent brands too, but those are well known for making good gear.

I have a Dakine packpack that I crammed and used loads and it's still in great shape.

Oakley is perhaps more hit and miss.

Recently got a Burton backpack (Kilo 2.0). Amazon have very good prices for many of their backpacks.
Not used it yet but it looks good. Although the laptop sleeve in that one has no closure strap, which is a bit poor.
And the front pocket has no organisation which is unusual. There unusually is organisation in the main compartment however.

I have an Oakley Gearbox LX. I managed to make a hole in the bottle holder mesh early on, but otherwise it's held up well (and I made no more holes). It has a separate backup section in the back - with it's own side access.
May be be a bit tricky with a 15 inch laptop though, not sure.
I actually put my MS Surface Book 2 in the main compartment, in a laptop sleeve, and then paperwork in the laptop compartment.
Because of the 3:2 aspect ratio that's similar to a 15 inch laptop.

Got the Burton Kilo 2.0 as I wanted a skate backpack - skateboard straps.

May get an Oakley Enduro 2.0 if I can get one for a good price.

The Burton Day Hiker backpacks look good. The Kilo 2.0 is a lifestyle backpack, while the Day Hiker is more "pro", for mountain use.
The laptops sleeve in that does have a retention strap!
