I would suspect because it's made by Bush. They don't really have a reputation for high quality products but if you can afford the time then buy it and give it a try and return it if it sounds rubbish.

sadly I have to agree with TimmyUK Bush 's rep. in the gutter these days. Do not think that I will touch there stuff again!!

I would have to agree with the above comments as well.

This was cheaper before the launch of the new catalogue as my son bought it for his bedroom. He paid £49.99 for it. For a teenage lad when he is playing on his ps3 it has been ideal. Only draw back was it would not connect to my dads tv when my son initially wanted to try it out despite having various leads and cables in the box, once home had no problems with setting it up on his own tv.

Bush never had a reputation to begin with. I used to sell Bush products 25 years ago when I worked for Laskys and they were rubbish then, I don't think they ever improved.

Bush - cold

Me love bush...

This, like a lot of other sound bars, is rated at 100 watts, which is about twice the power being used to run my 42" television. I understand that this soundbar will not be using 100 watts all the time, and this is a peak figure, but can anyone give me a rough idea of what the expected normal wattage would be when using this type of soundbar in an average sized room for normal viewing?

Update for others wondering the same..
A Google search gives various figures of between 2 and 10 watts, which is a lot less frightening than the 100 watts headline figures stated by manufacturers.

Thanks for a very helpful and comprehensive reply, but if you had read more than the first 13 words of my post you would have realised that I was fully aware of this.

Bush is not a brand, it is a badge.

Indeed, typicaly stuck onto the cheapest OEM products Argos can source.

Bush were a decent brand many decades ago but we're talking probably not since the 1970's

I saw the Philips soundbar for £69.99 in Sainsburys Haywards Heath the other day, although it's £79.99 online.....

I'm sure someone else could give you a far more technical and complicated reply but I think what this chap is trying to tell you is the 100w quoted is referring to the output. First of all you can ignore most output figures quoted with budget items like this as they all use rather daft methods to give a high figure so as to try and make people believe they are capable of high volumes levels. Secondly (and more knowledgeable members please correct me here if I'm wrong), even if you knew how they had come to that 100w output figure it has no bearing on how much power the amp is pulling from the mains anyway.

btw - just noticed code SOUND20, which gives you 20% off (no home delivery left in stock, but apparently the code works if you quote it instore!).

This means it's only £43.20!! I've just reserved one at my local Argos and will see if they honour the code instore tomorrow. I figured at that price it's worth a shot. I need something slim as it's for the TV in the bedroom and Argos are known for great customer service.

it's now 48.99 online with SOUND20 code still until 27/8/13. that means its now only 39.19.

Code small print states that "price online includes discount" but as usual, Argos employees don't know this. The code won't work automatically, but if pushed they will do it manually.
